As the transfer window winds down to a near close, I feel it's been a fairly underwhelming end. Unless a deal or two happens in the next 2 hours which I'll give odds of 33-1 on 1 signing and 299-1 on 2 signings, then I think our midfield stocks are still very much depleted.
Hmmm
2 hours to go, lets see

Gotta laugh - Tottenham couldn't sign Cahill either...

Ahhh Nice I like the lad, he'll get solid gametime and should be a good addition. Will slightly soften the blow of losing 2 creative midfielders.

Indeed Iggy, "So, Mikel Arteta to Arsenal is back on and Yossi Benayoun to Arsenal is very much on."
"Mikel Arteta now happening because he asked to leave Everton after hearing of Arsenal's interest."
I'm going to bed on the back of this news. Hope to wake up to something special :d

"Mikel informed me that he wished to join Arsenal. I am disappointed to lose him but the prospect of Champions League football was something I can't offer."

Good player but funny that they settled for him with all the other high hopes.

£10 million for Arteta, not a bad bit of business.

Glad that is over. Squad looks a whole lot stronger, although not good enough to challenge Utd, City & Chelsea.
RVP Gervinho - Arteta - Walcott Song - Wilshere Santos - Vermaelen - Mertesacker - Sagna Szczesny
2nd XI
Chamakh Arshavin - Benayoun - Park Diaby - Ramsey Gibbs - Koscielny - Djourou - Jenkinson Fabianski
Rosicky, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Miyachi, Frimpong, Squillaci.
So still decent enough to push for top 4, but if/when RVP gets injured I can't see where the goals will come from unless we revert to a 4-4-2.

I think I do, hasn't done much at chelsea but the season before last at Liverpool was a top player imo. Goals do look a problem as you said, just have to hope that Gervinho getting the service is a much better player and scores more, and that the mids such as wilshere song arteta yossi get a bagful of goals between them

I think Theo, RVP & Gervinho worked well together against Udinese away. Their movement was good and all 3 can play each position, where Yossi cannot play as a striker. Would rather see that trio continue and have Yossi slot in when Theo or Gervinho are out, or in the Arteta role.

Walcott is useless unless he gets to run.
