Lapses in concentration at the back nearly cost us a win in a game we dominated. A win's a win, no matter how you get there. But there are concerns about the performance for sure.

Fuck Andy Carroll was useless.

Adam was not good thats for sure !
Carroll I agree just not up to it - it was bad enough LS not being in form but whenever he did win the ball out wide and cross 2 - 3 times right across the goal mouth Carroll was no where to be found but standing flat whereas if he ran into the 6yard box he most likely had a tap in.
Enrique played solid.
Yep a win is a win happy enough.

This is so true. Every attack we had, Andy Carroll was either out of position or a yard off the pace. The lad is clueless.

I'm glad its not just me afro - I couldn't believe being a "striker" when his partner is doing the business outside and most likely get the ball across IN the danger zone there was Andy standing flat between 6yard and outside box lines #-o hoping he'll cut it back I suppose.
If Bellers or Dirk was on in the 1st half those cross's would have been met at least 1 go in HT 1 apiece.
His consistant contribution is meeting Pepe's goal kicks for lay offs and similar from the backs imo, he'd be great to sell off and buy VanPersi :d
Cardiff played out of their skin as any team would in a final and how we stayed strong in general is KUDOS to the rest of the squad and Kennys timing of subs for Henderson/Adam, Carroll were fair, then we had Stevies off radar, LS's timing not a sweet as we know can be but he kept winning ball and feeding it back to the zone we sure worked damn hard to get the result.
I don't wish to harp on at a great time for LFC and us supporters but......

I guess one positive way to look at it is, if you don't make the top 4, no matter where you finish on the table you've got European football.

Pretty sure that depends on who the FA Cup finalists are?

Nope, League cup winners qualify regardless of the FA Cup finalists.

See below afro...

Football Association rules stipulate that the League Cup winner gets automatic entry into the qualifying rounds for the following season's Europa League tournament.
Ala Birmingham last season

Yes thats right sydcro a nice thing to saviour next season but as afro mentions we sure would like to see more conviction coming the remainder of the season.

Martin Škrtel has been named Slovakia's player of the year for the third time.

In the annual poll organised by daily newspaper Pravda in cooperation with the Slovak Football Association (SFZ), the centre-back pipped SSC Napoli playmaker Marek Hamšík to the honour. Only three points separated the two players, the tightest result in the 19-year history of the award.

The accolade came the day after Škrtel helped Liverpool FC win their first trophy for six years. He scored in the League Cup success against Cardiff City FC at Wembley, where the Reds prevailed on penalties after a 2-2 draw. "What can I say? Three points is just one vote," said the 27-year-old at the gala evening in Trnava. "I won two trophies in two days. It's fantastic."

Škrtel is the second man to claim the prize three times after Dušan Tittel. The defender, who has been capped 52 times by Slovakia, put his consistent performances down to a lack of injuries. "Also my first son was born in October," Škrtel added. "I still believe my best year is yet to come."

Well fucking in Martin lad. Totally deserved.

Early rumours that Agger is out for 8 weeks but I doubt it. Can't be that long. Out for the weekend at least, I assume Carra will come in.

Depends on the severity of the fracture. But 6-8 weeks is about standard for a rib injury.

Well done to Skrtel. Big surprise that he topped Hamsik.

Arsenals defence aren't powerful. Koscielny and Vermaelen are good, but Carroll will boss the fuck out of them for strength.

Downing, Stevie, Suarez and Carroll should all start. The other two midfield/wide spots are up for grabs. One will probably be Adam, the other could be Spearo, Hendo, Kuyt(o) or Bellers.

I just find it hilarious, Carroll had 3-4 good games in a row, he has one average game (he wasn't even bad) against Cardiff and everyone is back to wanting him out.

BTW, watch Miller's chance in the 89th minute. Watch Carroll's involvement. If he doesn't do what he does, Miller probably scores and we lose.

This. Koscielny will have no problem dealing with Carroll, and if he's up against Vermaelen Carroll will be winning hardly anything in the air.

Oh and please let Downing start on the left

I can't wait for Downing to cross for Andy to power one in now. Will be sweeeet :P

Downing was MOTM at Wembley, and when he is high on confidence he's a terrific player.

I have full confidence in Andy for this weekends game. Will be gutted if he doesn't start.

I think you'll be waiting a while for that to happen :p

Downing's gotta get past Sagna first somehow, and then put the cross in. Then Andy Carroll has to actually put the header on target  that's if he even gets to it.

MOTM against a championship side, I'm sure Sagna is shaking in his boots :p

Are you fucking serious? You're talking about the guy who weighs 76kg and gets pushed off the ball by a light wind bossing Koscielny and Vermaelen. He couldn't even boss his dog at the moment.

And even if Downing can beat his man and put in a cross, Carroll will be a five yards off the pace, standing on the edge of the box wondering what's going on.
