I'd agree when he's on form he's amazing, but it doesn't happen often enough. It was only a few weeks ago everyone was calling for his head and wanting Ox to start.

Jose will boss the fuck out of him. :P

That's what Assou Ekotto thought last week, and what Ashley Cole thought both a couple of months ago and last season. Also what Barca thought 2 seasons ago. People mock him, but on his day he tears even the best left backs a new one.

And even when he has a bad day, like the first half against Sp*rs, the work he does off the ball was phenomenal.

I have watched quite a few Arsenal games this season and I think it is fair to say they are the only game he has played well in (Spurs and Chelsea) that I have watched.

So I would say his 'day' doesn't really come around too often.

Like I said, he may have an off day on the ball, but is still hugely effective off the ball.

That's the beauty of Walcott. He gives the opposition LB so much to deal with, and to constantly worry about, that it opens up so much space for our RB. Perfect example was on the weekend where it was his work off the ball that have Sagna so much space to be able to come inside and score, and to have acres of space to run into everytime he got the ball.

That being said, you give him just a tiny bit to much space and he will make you pay over and over again. On his day there isn't an LB who can deal with him.

I reckon Kelly might find himself starting again to tackle any threats down Arsenal's left flank.

Johno will definitely start. I wouldn't mind seeing GJ on the right flank though, with Kelly behind.

More likely we'll have GJ at RB with Downing or Bellers on the right though. Kuyt for a long shot.

Carroll - Suarez
Downing - Adam - Gerrard - Kuyt
Enrique - Carra - Skrtel - Johnson
Pepe

Probably something like that. Luis dropping deep/pulling wide and switching with Kuyt/Bellers. Other option is bringing in a third CM, dropping Kuyt and playing 4-3-3 with Suarez one of the wider players.

Sounds like Stevie is mostly fine, but wont be risked for this w/e. In that case I assume we'll see Hendo and Adam in the middle... maybe Jay as well.

Saw this too, which was cool:

Quote:
Congratulations to Craig Bellamy. The Liverpool striker has broken the record for the highest number of high-intensity, top-speed sprints recorded in a match.

Not bad going for a 32 year-old who has suffered from a history of serious injuries and who was awarded a free transfer at the start of the season.

The statistic might not be as eye-catching as goals scored or assists but it is, nevertheless, an absolutely key measure used by clubs to assess the effectiveness of their players.

Indeed, some managers, such as Sam Allardyce, regard it as one of the most significant statistics in a match.
Allardyce is adamant that the team who are the first to hit the 1,000-metre mark, collectively, for such sprints in a game will win the encounter. Such is their importance.

The exact details of Bellamy’s record, compiled using the ProZone system, are not being divulged by Liverpool but he achieved the feat during the second leg of the Carling Cup semi-final at Anfield against his former club Manchester City on Jan 25, when he played 88 minutes, scored, and was his team’s outstanding performer.

It is thought Bellamy recorded more than 840 metres of sprints in the match.

To put that in perspective, the Premier League average had been 324m while Tottenham’s Gareth Bale, in the famous ‘taxi for Maicon’ Champions League match in 2010 at home to Inter Milan achieved a remarkable 719m.
A sprint is, usually, classed as a run made at quicker than seven metres per second, equivalent to running 100 metres in a sharp 14 seconds.

Such has been Bellamy’s impact this season at Liverpool that it is understood he is on course to record the highest number of sprints by a player for a Premier League season, outpacing the likes of the rapid Bale and Theo Walcott, the Premier League’s quickest player.

Liverpool regard Bellamy’s signing from City as perhaps the transfer coup of the season and it may well be.
What is undeniable, however, is the hard work the player has put in to prolong a career which appeared in jeopardy of ending in frustration and injury at West Ham and Manchester City.

Now Bellamy has embraced all the ways of modern sports medical science, to which more and more clubs are cottoning on.

He is a devotee of the “periodisation” approach, with work being individually tailored to each player, and has previously employed the Dutch fitness coach Raymond Verheijen, whom he first met at City.

Bellamy also has a state-of-the-art altitude chamber installed in his bedroom at home to aid post-match recovery, he employs a personal chef to make his meals and he has worked closely with Steve Peters, the sports psychologist, who is best-known for his links with British cycling and Mark Cavendish in particular.

Bellamy even shocked his former City team-mate Nigel de Jong when the Dutch midfielder went into the Liverpool dressing room after that Carling Cup tie only to see the striker merrily sitting in an ice-bath celebrating.

Not that he can play every game. His career has to be carefully managed. But, as he has shown, he can make an impact.

If it was Theo with that honour you'd talking it up.

Nonetheless, I think it's interesting that a supposedly crocked 32 year old was running at over 7 metres per second for 840metres in a match. Top effort.

Wasn't a knock at Bellamy, just at stats in general. Seems there's a stat and a record being broken for every little thing.

As for talking Theo up for winning something like that, why would I bother, not even worth it

If I wanted to talk up tenuous stats I could always mention that Mikel Arteta is the first person to record 1500 successful passes this season. Or that Alex Song has the highest average number of successful through balls a game in the league.

Yeah, not sure who's counting that sprint stat, but they've got too much time on their hands.

Good god I'm sick of people who use the word "Liverpoo", they're inevitably about as intelligent as a three-week old wank sock.

Not really, consdering Kuyt has only played a handful of games. And Carra has barely played. And up until Suarez's suspension Carroll was mostly on the bench.

If you're talking about the system, then yeah. We mostly play a similar system, but most clubs/managers have a favoured setup anyway.

I like sydcro but he does like to stir our pot which is expected :d
I agree all this stat comparos are getting ott but this is modern technology at it worst IMO.
As for Theo - which one will be there tonight, not very consistent IMO but as mentioned when he's on any LB is on the back foot.
Bring it on tonight I know our boys will be ready whatever they bring.

Adam-Hendo is too light defensively, Adam-Spearing is too light offensively. We'll need all 3 in the middle for balance I think.

Rumoured team: Reina, Kelly, Carragher, Skrtel, Enrique, Spearing, Adam, Kuyt, Henderson, Downing, Suarez.

I know Johnson was struggling for fitness, hopefully Kelly steps up like the boss he is.

Will be a 4-3-3, Downing and Kuyt on the flanks, with the midfield 3.

How cool is this - the last 6 games between these two sides has produced a goal in injury time.

- That rumoured team is from a guy with 100% so far this season, so I'm confident that is it. Although he's suggesting it's more of a 4-2-3-1 with Hendo at CAM. Cool.
