Well last years pre we were in a complete mess, thankfully BR having had his 1st season with us and the many changes to date certainly got us off to a much better start. Afro's right we should bomb this type of opposition thinking back to the good ol days but that was a long long time ;) Its only one game but reading about it sure is positive compared to last season, hopefully it carries on especially that we smash mv once here \:d/

Just once, I'd like to wake up and log on to a football site and not see some quote from Suarez or his agent talking drivel.

Rumours of a deal being done for Christian Eriksen are gathering momentum.

Yep ditto - as much as all of us admire his game whilst on the pitch were all getting sick of the BS, surely BR has to cut the cord as soon as an offer is made ?

Liverpool's 2013 tour squad in full:
Jones, Johnson, Enrique, Toure, Agger, Alberto, Gerrard, Aspas, Coutinho, Assaidi, Pacheco, Henderson, Downing, Spearing, Lucas, Mignolet, Allen, Borini, Sterling, Kelly, Skrtel, Flanagan, Wisdom, Robinson, Ibe, Suarez, Coates, Reina.
Pacheco has since pulled out though so that's probably him out the door.
Crazy to think that there are 28 players in there and none of them are just young fillers. I expect every one of those players to play a significant part this year, including Ibe and Flanno.

I think the club needs to remember that we still hold his contract until 2018 and his contract alone is worth in excess of 25m. Add the value of the player himself and nobody is going to match that valuation. I can almost guarantee he's going to do a Mascherano. They might play a significant part at our club this year, which looks great for us. But guys like Ibe and Flanno would be little more than fill-ins at many other clubs.

Need to take your red goggles off mate ;) Do you really expect someone like Ibe to contribute as much as the other squad players?

I mean, aside from that he's incredibly average as a footballer you'd have to lose Gerrard, Allen, Lucas, Henderson and Coutinho...the guy hasn't even been given a number for this season.

Did I say he would contribute as much as other squad players? No. I said he would play a part. I think he'll play at least 10 games this season, which I would say is a significant contribution. Spearing is a little diff, I didn't see his name there. He's not going to be here when the season starts. Perhaps significant was the incorrect word but I definitely expect Ibe to have an impact. We stopped our move for Atsu because we had belief in Sterling/Ibe as winger options. I feel like Rodgers has a lot of faith in him and I think he can do what Sterling did last year.

Well you said that all 28 would play a significant part in the season - my point being that 28 is quite a large number and its a bit of a stretch to see all of them playing a big role.

Looking from the outside, Sterling only had such a significant role because there really weren't too many other options. With Sturridge/Coutinho/Aspas having been brought in, I don't think you'll see Sterling starting as many games as he did last season.

I think he will play just as many games to be honest - especially when you consider how few he played in the 2nd half of last season. I think he'll be in most match day squads and will start here and there too. I have a feeling most people have forgotten how much of a talent he can be - with Suarez out for a while I wouldn't be surprised to see Sturridge Sterling - Coutinho - Aspas I like that. A lot. Four very mobile, versatile players.

Edited by jlm8695: 18/7/2013 01:09:03 AM Sterling got given a chance because we didn't have a lot of options, but he made a claim to the position in his own right. I think there's a lot more to come from the lad. He made some very good fullbacks look very average last season.

Early days for Sterling - I'm sure he'll be used accordingly.

Quote:My guess is the white away kit, Warrior will have their say to try and sell those kits somehow. That and Liverpool are going to be contractually obliged to wear them a certain number of times this season so they'll want to get that out of the way ASAP

They will wear red.
Nice win last night, Alberto impressing a bit. Ibe as well, dat pace
So excited for Wednesday.
Sounds like Pepe is gone on loan. Decent option, gets him off the books and his value certainly wont decrease over there, if anything it goes up which will be good for us, or we can bring him back if Mignolet doesn't work out.

Our loan list could be quite interesting this season, hopefully a few players can get some good game-time:
Our confirmed loans are: player - team - league Suso - Alemeria - La Liga Ngoo - Yeovil - Npower Championship Hodzic - FK Zeljeznicar Sarajevo - Premijer league (Bosnia) Mukendi - Partick Thistle FC - SPL
Rumoured players close to loan deals Reina - Napoli -Serie A (I an not really interested in this and would prefer a transfer) Coady - Sheffield United - Npower League 1 Adorján - FC Groningen - Eredivise Wisdom - Wigan - Championship
Will have to follow a few of them especially Suso and Adorján if he goes. If you haven't seen Hodzic before it is because we only bought him this season and he is going straight back out on loan (like Amini). His club is also in the champions league losing their first game 3-4 to viktoria plzen fc away from home. He only got 4 minutes but hopefully they get through and he can get some good game time in Europe this season.
