4 CB's was only ever going to end badly. And then watching Mignolet constantly playing the ball out to the fullbacks who can't dribble...what were you thinking, Brendan? Massive, massive disappointment.

Afro - more in jest - just like to see him feed a killer ball now and then adding to the mix, sure he's our trenchman butnothing like having an additional weapon at times. Haven't seen the game as yet - looking forward to catch the replay welcome to the scoring sheet LS and another for Sturridge, can't wait for Countinho to get back once fit again feeding our frontmen even more.

If Coutinho was fit we'd have plenty of additional weapons. Lucas has a role in the team, he plays it well. No point in adding unnecessary complexities to it and sacrificing defensive stability.
Good performance this morning I guess. Maybe gave Sunderland a few too many chances but the scoreboard tells the story in the end. Good to have Suarez back and firing.

Lucas suspended, but probably chose the right game for it (home to Palace next)
BR has spoken about how we're playing 3-4-1-2 at the moment. Interesting, but it does suit our personnel when all are fit.

I'd like to see a 4-2-3-1.

It's about getting Suarez-Sturridge in a good partnership so I do like the 2 up top. When Coutinho is back and you put him in behind as well... very dangerous. When all are fit: Sturridge - Suarez Coutinho Enrique - Lucas - Gerrard - Johnson Sakho - Agger - Toure Mignolet

I'd like to to something like this, but Coutinho and Moses a bit wider than shown below. Mignolet Johnson - Agger - Toure - Enrique Gerrard - Lucas Coutinho - Moses Suarez Sturridge Edited by 433: 30/9/2013 06:12:35 PM

When all are fit: Sturridge - Suarez Coutinho Enrique - Lucas - Gerrard - Johnson Sakho - Agger - Toure Mignolet That could be a little too defensive, it's basically a glorified 5 at the back. And would definitely mess with Mignolet's preferred method of distribution. One of our big issues against Southampton was closing down their midfielders, and since I assume that Enrique and Johnson drop back to form a defensive screen when we're out of possession that could prove to be problematic - there isn't a lot of pace to those CB's. Another issue is where does that leave Henderson/Moses? Probably good that Lucas is out against a team like Palace. Should be a fairly straight forward game (*touch wood*) that will give Joe Allen a chance to prove that he still brings something to the table.

Henderson is a fucking machine. I don't envy Rodger's headache when everyone is fit again.

Lucas isn't in the team today after his wife gave birth to a daughter. Congrats to the lad.

Would have taken the draw pre-game but it's annoying considering the context of what happened.
Always difficult coming off the back of a NT break and Newc are tough at home.

Sloppy defending for Newcastle's second goal. We really should have capitalised on the man advantage. It's not the end of the world but really we need to do better.

Missing Lucas and Coutinho is always going to put a hole in your side but we've known for the last 2 seasons that we struggle without Lucas and haven't found an adequate replacement for him.

Suarez is just incredible. Truly.
Very good win, solid performance. Midfield balance was great.
