Our highest scoring and most entertaining season under BR was played largely on the counter attack... Where we were more 2011 dortmund than 2009 tic tac Barcelona.
I think if we looked at the stats of the past 3 years we would find or amount of possession is inversely related to the number of goals we score...

Yes he's been excellent
I'm optimistic (shock horror!) about our season.
Not thinking we'll go near the top but hopefully an improvement on last year!

Optimistic every year :d Good hit outs tbh - I'm happy to see our HAL teams giving it to visiting clubs incl ours. My son was at the Real/Roma game the other night - complete fizzer in his opinion whereas our Roar/Adelaide games had some intensity due to our locals wanting to make a contest of it which in their boots I would do the same. Even though were in pre mode and blooding in new players expectations by spectators on these tour games are high and I think we gave enough for them to be satisfied of. TBH its refreshing post Sterling - the young ones are very promising !

Agree. I was at Rome v Real and it was pretty stagnant and lacking atmosphere. It's amazing how popular LFC are here. 3 games played, all sold out, all crowds a sea of passionate reds supporters.... The real game was full of casual fans who just came to catch a glimpse of ronaldo.
I'm hoping Ibe works hard this year. With a bit more maturity he could really thrive this year.

Our support does not surprise me one bit. Back in the day ;) when Big League Soccer was the only football show on TV here, Ch2 might I add back in the '70's on. One of the biggest nights was watching the FACup final late live as well as highlights of the league week nights. Showing my age :-$ just as the young ones today being influenced by Messi's Ronaldo's etc (not the band wagon supporters) I and countless many grew up watching us through our dominate times, we were on every week.. Just look at the crowds here how many are old fossils like me  YNWA. The kids, IBE 19yrs, wow so much potential. Gomez ! 18yrs, wow I'm impressed for his age. Origi 20yrs..huge potential. Can, 21yrs, so much ahead of he, after last season under his belt expecting good season ahead. Hendo ! Milner Lallana Skrtl Lucas for eg - these guys are good for the guys above. Were yet to see how this Firmino settles in yet as well. Optimistic as mentioned before. Edited by M.L.: 21/7/2015 03:23:40 PM

Will be interesting to see how Rodgers balances that midfield. A lot of players who will probably be expecting to start more often than not.

Good problem imo. Sure comes down to how BR deals with it or more so how he comes across to x player on his selection decisions but they all would looking at each other thinking I've got to deliver otherwise I'm coming off the bench more than starting up :)

Bentekkers completed.
A lot of money to pay for him but his scoring record can't be denied and he's only 24, deal is supposedly structured as 16 upfront with the rest over 5 years.
Hopefully he works.

Surely this is the end for Balotelli now. ESPN reporting that Inter Milan have rejected him, so we may see him sit on the side lines collecting his millions until his contract expires?????

You'd think so, if Mancini doesn't want him I'm not sure many else will unless we're subsidising a fair chunk of his wages.

Thoughts on the booing of Raheem S at the MCG? I felt a bit sorry for him tbh. We swooped in on QPR with the cash early on. Can we really begrudge him for making the same decision when city came calling?

The lack of ambition and the perennial failure. Signing players like Milner will do nothing except prevent relegation. What we should do is, buy the best players in the world. Build a new stadium. We should spend about half a billion dollars on this. Too many dinosaurs with no ambition at Liverpool. I should be in charge. Although Benteke is a good signing, he won't get us into the top four. Sterling left cos there was a club who could offer what he was worth, lots of money and titles. We should be that club.

If you think sterling is worth 150 k a week than your having a laugh . Kün augero is worth that. Özil is worth that. Stirling isnt. He is just another overhyped englishman

I just hate how he drew it out for like 6 months, and kept trying to play the 'I'm an innocent kid' card
That interview without the club consent was a dick move. I'm ecstatic he's gone.

He is just another overhyped englishman Potentially he would be worth that in the future, but not now yeah. For me he missed too many 1 on 1 chances. You can't fault him for his overall output though for a 20 year old in the EPL. Ibe is creatively a lot better and can score better goals, which is why most people say Ibe will be a better player. Surprised we are still being linked with Reus, Lacazette, or Pedro. I would like to see Markovic given more of a chance in the middle somewhere, but it would be hard to fit him in now. Given we have: AM/Wing - Coutinho, Lallana, Ibe FW/Wing - Firmino, Origi FW - Sturridge, Benteke, Ings Players on the outer: Balotelli, Lambert, Borini, Markovic.

I was referring to the fact you think he's worth what City paid... More money? Undoubtedly. More titles? We'll have to wait and see. Rodwell and Sinclair both have winners medals but you'd struggle to argue they deserved them. At the end of the day he's just a naïve little boy who's taken some bad advice from greedy twat of an agent. He showed no professionalism or respect to the club in his exit, and as a result has earned himself a reputation as a spoilt little brat. No tears from me.

Value is warped completely now. A player worth 10m could be sold for 30m in this market. EPL clubs have the money to make it happen.
I'm not that fussed to lose sterling based on last year. He was lively for sure, but so has Jordan Ibe been. RS7 really didn't win us many games off his own bat and for the price out was a great deal. But unfortunately it's only a good deal if you get better value on your replacements. And we over spent on both benteke and firmino....

MvFCArsenal16.8 wrote:If you think sterling is worth 150 k a week than your having a laugh . Kün augero is worth that. Özil is worth that. Stirling isnt. He is just another overhyped englishman Well, according to this, Sergio Aguero is on 225,000 pounds/week and Ozil is on 180,000 pounds/week. 150,000 pounds/week wouldn't even put Sterling in the top ten. And I think this from 18 months ago, so wages may have increased since then. http://www.therichest.com/sports/soccer-sports/top-10-highest-paid-premier-league-players/?view=allEDIT: Actually, Rooney's has risen to 300,000 pounds/week. Whos your starting 11 for round 1? I'll go with: ------------Mignolet Clyne-skrtel-lovren-sakho -----Hendo---milner Ibe---lallana-coutinho -----origi
Lallana was excellent in preseason. Deserves a start until firmino and coutinho have trained a bit more. Same for benteke. If we see an 11 that goes straight for the big money signings despite them not coming on person with the club I'll be disappointed...

Thats about the 11 I would start up with. Or maybe give Ings a run first up instead of Origi, either ither, be interesting if he lists Benteke on the bench. The Count just scored in that last Helenski game. Well next week the BS stops.

Not a better way to start in the No9 shirt :d Allen hammy tear from the Swindon game. Can back after U21 Euros, reports are that he played great, looking fit and ready. Firmino as quoted in TIA - It was a really exciting first 67 minutes from Firmino and the Brazil international showed exactly what he will bring to the Liverpool side this season. Looking forward to see what he delivers, hope he settles into the EPL sooner rather than later. This young kid will be interesting to develop as well - Joao Carlos Teixeira. Balo as expected on the outer with the return of Origi, Ings,Benteke signed and Sturridge to come back - available for $7m lbs.
