Press conference ws scheduled for 1pm today but cancelled last minute.

Could be either waiting for Kenny to get back, or waiting to get the Man U game out of the way before acting.

What changes do you guys think there needs to be ?

New manager, new full-backs, new striker, new holding midfielder. Though we could get away with not buying a DM and playing Agger in Masch's old role. I think he'd excel there.

Yeah, I think the LMA are making a massive mess of this. I understand that their job is to protect the managers, but when a gaffer can't do is job, he needs to go.

The 'press conference' that never happened was just Woy's usual pre-game briefing. The board didn't want any awkward questions. I'd say he'll be gone after the United game, regardless of the result. Dalglish to return from holiday and replace him until a more suitable replacement can be found.

Ok so who do you guys think could be a long term successful manager at Liverpool? Are there any stand out candidates with the ability to pull us out of this misery and rebuild the team into the force it once was?
Of course I realise that we need to get rid of deadwood and that it will take 2 to 3 seasons before we can get back to where we should be. But who is this manager going to be? Who can be our next Shankly? Any idea's?

I'd like Kenny for now. The players respect him, the fans love him, and he knows and loves the club. He is a very knowledgable person, and you don't lose that.

I totally agree, but is he the manager to lead into the future? As a caretaker he would be invaluable, but who is the manager to take over for the long term going to be?

Deschamps and Reijkaard have apparently said not interested. Linked with Owen Coyle, poor man's Hodgson.

I think this is called 'value in the market' that we're going by.

Rangnick? wouldn't want Deschamps or Rijkaard

I think with the new guys in charge if it's not Kenny it'll be something abit left-field like they did with the Baseball and go for somebody from the Bundesliga who don't often go abroad

It's worth remembering that Dalglish is 59 and could easily take the club for the next five or six years and groom Stevie G or Carra to take his place.

If you were after a younger bloke, someone like Sammer or Deschamps. I don't think Rangnick is the ideal man.

Roy Hodgson has left Liverpool Football Club by mutual consent. Kenny Dalglish takes charge from Sunday. Full story on http://www.liverpoolfc.tv

From twitter.

http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/news/latest-news/hodgson-leaves-liverpool-fc

Quote:
Liverpool FC confirmed today that manager Roy Hodgson has left the club by mutual consent.

Principal Owner John Henry commented: "We are grateful for Roy's efforts over the past six months, but both parties thought it in the best interests of the club that he stand down from his position as team manager. We wish him all the best for the future."

Roy Hodgson said: "Being asked to manage Liverpool Football Club was a great privilege. Any manager would be honoured to manage a club with such an incredible history, such embedded tradition and such an amazing set of fans. Liverpool is one of the great clubs in world football. I have, however, found the last few months some of the most challenging of my career. I am very sad not to have been able to put my stamp on the squad, to be given the time to bring new players into the club in this transfer window and to have been able to be part of the rebuilding process at Liverpool. The club has some great, world-class players, with whom it has been a pleasure to work and I wish the entire squad well for the rest of the season. I thank those with whom I have built up a close working relationship at the club for their loyalty and support during very testing times, and finally of course to the Liverpool fans, your passion and dedication to the club will see Liverpool at the top of the game once more."

Club legend Kenny Dalglish will assume control of team matters for Sunday's third round FA Cup tie against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Henry added: "We are delighted that Kenny Dalglish has agreed to step in and manage the team for Sunday's FA Cup tie at Old Trafford and for the remainder of the season.

"Kenny was not just a legendary footballer, he was the third of our three most successful managers - three giants. We are extraordinarily fortunate and grateful that he has decided to step in during the middle of this season."

Chairman Tom Werner said: "No one who cares for this great club has been happy with the way this season has unfolded and we have examined options and considered at length what is best for us going forward. Kenny will bring considerable experience to the position and provide management and leadership for the rest of the season."

Clearly trying to get the "new manager" boost in for the Sunday match.

Best. News. Ever.

Last time I checked the Graun it was talking about a cancelled press conference before training and no access to Hodgson.

Now we have Kenny back and I feel like a 10 year old again. :)

Whatever happens now, it can't be as bad as what we were subjected to under the pair of blurts who installed Hodgson as a sub-par manager and excellent yes-man.
