Quote:The Cars are up and running with new album on the way The surviving members of the US new wave band have been recording for the first time in 23 years – and may go on tour Dan Martin guardian.co.uk, Friday 22 October 2010 10.31 The Cars have reunited for a surprise new album and are considering going on tour. The US new wave power-pop band had not recorded together in 23 years. But Billboard reports that surviving members Ric Ocasek, Elliot Easton, Greg Hawkes and David Robinson have recorded a number of songs at a New York studio. The group reformed earlier this year. The news was apparently confirmed by veteran engineer Paul Orofino, following a photograph which appeared on Facebook of the four members together in a recording studio. A clip of a new song Blue Tip on their Facebook page last week also fuelled speculation that the band was getting back together. The Cars were one of the most successful bands to rise out of the US new wave scene. Best known for the soft rock anthem Drive, the Boston band enjoyed hits in the 1970s with songs like Just What I Needed, Best Friend's Girl and Shake It Up. The band split in 1988, with Ocasek going on to produce bands like No Doubt, Weezer and Guided By Voices. He did not take part in a spin-off project the New Cars in 2005 and was instead replaced by Todd Rundgren, until the project fizzled out. Bassist Benjamin Orr is the only member who wont be participating in the reunion – he sadly died in 2000. http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2010/oct/22/the-cars-new-album-reunited

That's what I first saw, and that's how I read it. "RECORD sales in Australia have hit an alarming low with a British metal band hitting the No. 1 spot with just 3600 album sales." This is the emphasised point in the article. the 3600 record sales, not the fact that it's a british metal band. The article is clearly poorly written, given that it comes from the HS. What it should say is "Record sales in Australia have hit an alarming low with just 3600 album sales being required for British metal band Bring Me The Horizon to reach the number 1 spot this week."

Getting into a lot of Coldplay and Weezer atm. Nah, JT has done a few good songs. Deffinitely the best of the Pop/R'n'B bunch for mine.

No, the charts have hit an alarming low because they onlu moved 3600 units to get there. There's no direct jibe at metal there.

Love the subtle attack on Metal in that article. The Charts have hit an alarming low because a Metal band is on top .

What a load of fucking bullshit article. The reason record sales are so fucking low is because places like Sanity charge so fucking much for their albums and because we have our record market saturated with crappy pop artists like fucking Guy Sebastian!
GAH! Shit like that makes me SO fucking angry. What the fuck did you think would happen?! And yout hink that best of albums over christmas are going to pick up sales? Get fucked!

Quote:Australian music sales hit sour note Cameron Adams From: Herald Sun October 19, 2010 12:00AM RECORD sales in Australia have hit an alarming low wtih a British metal band hitting the number one spoth just 3600 album sales. British hardcore metal band Bring Me the Horizon made a surprising debut at No. 1 on the ARIA album charts yesterday, with just 3600 copies sold nationally. This is the lowest sales to achieve a No. 1 album in Australia. The figure highlights the impact illegal downloading has had on record sales. Last week's No. 1 by Linkin Park sold just 4056 copies. Even the new Robbie Williams compilation sold only 2816 copies last week to debut at No. 6. Sales should pick up this week with the release of new albums by Kings of Leon and John Farnham, who will both battle to be No. 1 next week. Expected big sellers for Christmas include a "best of" Pink, new albums by Taylor Swift, Kanye West, Rihanna and Jessica Mauboy, and a Susan Boyle Christmas album. Bring Me the Horizon will tour here in February for the Soundwave festival with their album There Is a Hell, Believe Me I've Seen It. There Is a Heaven, Let's Keep It A Secret. "To have a number one album, in a country we don't even live in, is amazing," frontman Oli Sykes said. http://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/australian-music-sales-hit-sour-note/story-e6frf7jo-1225940393713
