Got Eminem, Deaf Havana, Mayday Parade and State Champs (and give Dangerkids another few spins) to listen to, and that'll be me done with albums for the year. Top 5 is pretty set in stone atm. It'll have to take a helluva lot to displace The Wonder Years from album of the year.

Might give Sempiternal a listen as well. Can't stand BMTH's old stuff, but I was listening to some of the new songs and it sounded good.

Also, Rolling Stones touring in March next year. Have just announced Adelaide date, will confirm other dates next week. Really hoping they do a Perth show, easily a band I have to see live.

I haven't seen any site quoting less than $200. Most sites are saying up around $300 + various bullshit fees.

Not really sure how I feel about that

Been spinning Twelve Foot Ninja's Silent Machine today. Really good album. Definite Mike Patton influence.

Also acquired Jamie Cullum's Momentum and Saosin's In Search of Solid Ground.

Apologies for the double post but I feel like I need to give these guys a plug. They are a little punk band from Newcastle and they just released an ep and quite frankly its the greatest thing a bunch of 18/19 year olds have ever written.

Judging from what I can see of your music tastes they sound like something you would probably dig Benjo.

Mallory Knox's Signals is one of the best releases this year. Agree, UK is producing a lot of quality rock bands atm. off the top of my head, Twin Atlantic are awesome, and Lower than Atlantis, Young Guns and Don Broco are all not too bad either.

Saw some of Deaf Havana at SW this year, they seemed ok. I have Old Souls on my iTunes, haven't listened to it yet though.

Saw Muse last night. Their stage is excellent. Was pretty close in. They sound fantastic live, Matt Bellamy has got to be one of the best current guitarists in the world. Good voice as well.

I had a few issues though. Firstly, he barely spoke to the crowd. Secondly, some of their lesser known songs dragged on a bit and it got a bit tiring. Was very surprised they had Hyper Music as one of the encore songs, even more so when they played Knights of Cydonia very early on. However, they still sounded very good live and it was well worth the money.

Birds of Tokyo were great as the support band as well. Ian Kenny sounds great live.

From the LostProphets facebook page today.

Quote:
Earlier this week, we learned that the allegations of child sexual abuse against Ian were true, and that he would not be contesting them in court. Until then, we found them extremely difficult to believe and had hoped it was all a mistake. Sadly, the true extent of his appalling behaviour is now impossible to deny.

Many of you understandably want to know if we knew what Ian was doing. To be clear: We did not. We knew that Ian was a difficult character. Our personal relationships with him had deteriorated in recent years to a point that working together was a constant, miserable challenge. But despite his battles with drugs, his egotistic behaviour, and the resulting fractures and frustrations within our band, we never imagined him capable of behaviour of the type he has now admitted.

We are heartbroken, angry, and disgusted at what has been revealed. This is something that will haunt us for the rest of our lives. Being in a band has always been a labour of love and a platform to inspire people, not to take advantage of them. It's still hard to believe this is happening and that someone we were once so close to has destroyed so many lives, lying every step of the way.
Our hearts go out to Ian's family, the fans and friends he betrayed, and most importantly, the victims of his crimes and others like them. We hope for justice, but also that Ian will truly take responsibility for what he's done. We would urge any other victims to contact the authorities.

Jamie, Lee, Luke, Mike and Stu

The whole thing disgusts me but I hope the rest of the band can start anew with a new name and a new frontman.

Don't think they will sadly. they'll forever be known as "the band that used to have Ian Watkins as a lead singer". This will stick with them for a long time. Feel sorry for them, considering they've been caught up in this shit despite doing nothing wrong. The reaction from some people has been anti-Lostprophets, even though it was all Ian. Starting a new band with a new lead singer won't work sadly. It's a shame, because I love some of their stuff. Rooftops is one of my favourite songs.

Personally, i think it makes the show a lot better when the frontman talks to the crowd, or the band talk to each other on stage and so it's not just them playing to the audience. i like it when they interact with the fans.

Had to sit down and listen to Lostprophets one last time, coz fuck it, they wrote some amazing music. Feel for the rest of the band, they'll forever be living in this scumbags shadow now, and the name they helped create is tarnished forever as well.

You've got to feel for the rest of Lostprophets. I can't listen to them any more. And I've tried multiple times. Nothing against the rest of the band, I just can't stand Ian Kenny.

Hopefully they'll find a new frontman and re-launch under another name.

Crowd interaction is essential to a live performance. Why would you pay hundreds of dollars to hear a band do nothing more than play their songs exactly like they are on the albums? That's pointless. It's also why Matt Bellamy and Ian Kenny are douches.
