Its more that i just get more out of listening to Nirvana. Just a personal preference really. This actually happens a lot where people dont get why i prefer certain stuff over others (Deftones over Tool for one).

Nirvana were kept respectable by Dave Grohl, who wrote most of the songs that Nirvana are remembered for like Lithium and Come As You Are. Its just a personal preference i suppose and everyone i guess is entitled to it. Nirvana did have a legacy so to speak and cobain did put them on the map, i think the way it ended made them more memorable. Bush are good, but i havnt heard much from them lately.

I hope they return back to their old sounds in the next album but I find that highly unlikely.

IT brought about a mild sense of nostalgia...Bleed It Out did a little too, but I can't say it was anything special. You'll never see them the same again. They sold out as bad as Metallica.

Yes, clocking himself with the shotty probably contributed a bit to their legacy, but to claim it as the sole reason is completely stupid. Nirvana were a massive influence on tons of bands through the nineties, and played a huge part in shaping the music scene at the time. Hell, Bush, the band you're defending so much, would almost definitely cite Nirvana as one of their major influences.

MTM is fantastic, but maybe its because im all for like this make poverty history stuff, free tibet/zimbabwe, so being a political album i reckon its pretty good. Collision course, i didnt mind listening to the songs, but the originals were always better, never thought jay-z should work with a rock band and still do.

I saw Matchbox20 last night. I can't say it went off but it was entertaining and my favourite song "3am" was sung by the entire audience, quite a night.

Hell, Bush, the band you're defending so much, would almost definitely cite Nirvana as one of their major influences. That doesn't mean they were any better as an artist. You can leavea legacy, but that doesn't mean anybody can actually remember who did it? Does anybody know the song "the real thing"? Taht was one of the first songs to use a technique called "flanging" and yet, you couldn't name ONE of the guys who produced that album. You can be incredibly influential, but that doesn't add up to squad most of the time. Cobain will always be remembered as the manic-depressive who had domestic's with Courtney Love and shot himself in the face. And Nirvana will always be "Cobain's band". Linkin Park were trying to do something they haven't done before and take things in a new direction and it didn't work. I'm not saying it's bad, but the only fans they really held onto are the ones that are the same age as the band members themselves who are starting to "mature" a little (or get closer to senility, either way). Miss you : As Long As I Am Here : Live This Life : Maybe Wrong : Always Surrounded - all by Prime Circle
Dream Catch Me - Newton Faulkner (dont like the heavy bass thingo though)
With Me - Sum 41
By the way Jack Johnson is class. I find people tend to think music has to be fast paced. Not mentioning any times, im just saying. But Jack Johnson is awesome especially when he did that song with BEP, Gone Going. Hes got a great tune to him like in Good People and Taylor.

No, I'd say you are an average listener. Since music these days is becoming so diluted and commercialised, I, like many I know are diversifying their tastes. I just got over my Aussie Hip Hop phase which i've been in for about 7 months now. Now im getting back into dance/electronica.

Fair point. Speaking of Aussie hip hop, have you heard Pegz? Classic tunes, should be way more popular.

Yeah, I got his Axis album. Haven't really bothered to get his other albums.
I'm sweating on The Herd's next album. Should be out within the month.
EDIT: But yeah, love Back Then and This Is For Life. ;)

If you like Acoustic then listen to Prime Circle esp As Long As I Am here and Hello (Acoustic version). Great band, only problem is its hard to find as they from South Africa and you cant really find them in Aus, but i managed to download a few of their songs.

That stuff was hardly acoustic zimbos, closer to hard rock... it was good nonetheless, although they don't compare to Seether if were talking about S.African bands.

The band is rock, but not those two songs, they closet to acoustic than anything. Seether are awesome no doubt. South Africa has produced some great band but their albums are sooo hard to get hold of over here. Ever heard of Watershed, Niemand, The Parlatones, Trees 63, Just Jinger.

Yeah, they were typical slower songs from a rock band. I prefer actual acoustic bands/singers like City and Colour, Dustin Kensrue and Iron and Wine. They have more of a folk feel to them.

Are you kidding? Jack Johnson, former pro' Surfer who sings all those acoustic tunes, and does a lot of work with Ben Harper... I'd recommend any Alter Bridge song, too. They have three ex-members of Creed, but don't really sound like it at all, a pretty decent band. Edited by xAragonite: 29/4/2008 09:06:27 PM

Sitting, Waiting, Wishing came on the radio at work last week, and I was singing along with it, and one of my workmates asked me who sung the song, and I told him it was Jack, and he just stared at me blankly and says: "Who?" I could have hit him over the head, I swear...
