Carpathian and Cog are touring through Canberra on the same day. I've seen Cog twice including their new album live, although I've seen Carpathian three times but haven't seen their new album live... Cog would mean an amazing sound and good fun, Carpathian would mean going mental, screaming choruses and good fun. Quite the dilemma... Any help?

Go Carpathian. I love Cog, but live they focus too much on replicating their sound, rather than putting on a show. I'd love to see them interact with the crowd more, have a bit of fun, rather than just trying to play a song exactly like it is on CD.

"Its a fucking live show!". The end of that with Randy in a kilt getting knocked out is hilarious. The only thing that worries me with Carpathian is that they are supporting rather than headlining (I think) so I might only get a half hour.

Yeah, they do a lot of sampling in their live songs which inhibits their ability to play off the cuff a fair bit and kind of sterilises them from their audience. They need to play a little more improv and learn how to convert their tracks to a live sound situation. Ghosts III. Excellent stuff.

Cog is metal? O well, each to their own... I think there are lots of fans of everything here, its just me, funky and afro seem to do the most discussing of music.

Largely because we're the only ones who know what we're talking about  Two guys studying Audio Engineering and an avid fan makes for some good discussions.

That kind of inhibits your topic matter when you've only got 40 new songs to talk about each year according to austereo.

And it only includes two or so genres. Really sub-genres actually, just r'n'b and soft rock.

Also
Day n Nite - (cant remember the name) If i know you - The Presets Not usually into that stuff but... Yeah, agree, Kisschasey are a great band, haven't heard much from them recently though. Day n Nite is by Chrome(I think) I actually like it a lot. Partly because it's on the NBA 09 soundtrack and I always put it on.

Quite enjoying Comemerative 9/11 T-Shirt by Oceansize at the moment. Very sort of...Drifty Prog Rock. Sort of like...if Cog were lost and drifting in space, I can definately hear a Pink Floyd influence here...They wish they could pull off something like Live at Pompeii. Sleeping Dogs and Dead Lions is pretty cool too.

Anyone like Motorhead? :d

Classic song. I suggest Line in the Sand, aka the Evolution theme song.

My favourite's are Paul Oakenfold and Paul Van Dyke. Ferry Corsten and Tiesto are alright (was actually looking at going to a Tiesto show for my 18th) too, but I don't listen to much else.
Edit: That is trance right?

Edited by Nico: 25/3/2009 12:11:51 PM Yeah, they're probably 4 out of the top 5 biggest names in trance but your missing #1. Armin van Buuren!!!

I tried mk's thing to download Dillinger & NIN's Wish and it was dud. file2hd doesn't work often too, pretty much anything that uses a flash app withint a flash app (ie, myspace) will fuck it up. Quote:Any trance addicts here? *NNNN TS NNN TS NNN TS NNN TS* not really. Klayton, BT, The Prodigy (when they do trance), that's about it.
