But people always go. They only need a few good bands because its partly the experience itself that brings people to the BDO. Lees and West have been out of touch for ages, but the bands they announce are usually good enough draw cards to bring people in. Bullet WILL bring a lot. As Munky said though, it will be interesting to see what affect NIN and AIC will have on what the BDO does.

I don't think Bullet will bring that many in tbh. They're a good band, but they're not that big out here. Plus their last album was crap. Apparently Machine Head were lined up for the BDO. That would have been a smart move. They're one of the biggest metal bands in the world right now. But instead of taking that risk, they play it safe and go for the standard metalcore band.

Not just standard, but the one that all the 15 year olds want to hear. It will bring in more than Mudvayne or Trivium did, and I consider them all the same choice by the promoters. You could even put Anti-Flag to that list. I guess my point is that for what Bullet are put there to achieve, they well and truly will. Machine Head would not get a whole lot more imo.

Yeah, pretty much agree with all of that. The last time they took a risk on a metal band would have been my first BDO, with Slipknot and SOAD. It's disappointing that they've become complacent, and are happy to just bring out the standard, 'flavour of the month' bands, instead of trying something different. Like i said before, hopefully SW shakes them up, though it doesn't seemed to have happened this year.

Metallica were the year before, the Beastie Boys headlined that year. Still my favourite BDO, the line-ups have slowly gotten worse and worse as the years go by. Watching the BDO special on channel V atm, The promoter said that the Mars Volta wanted to play, but they said no because they'd already toured this year. *cough*Bullet*cough* *cough*Cog*cough* *cough*Living End*cough* *cough*Ting Tings*cough*.

I guess if the promoters know they can grab a few eye catching names, then put in the filler Aussie bands, and make massive profits knowing that everyone will still go, why wouldn't they? They are still okay line-ups going by that system anyway. You also know what your going to get from BDO and its much more professional than Soundwave. I expect a large improvement in that department from Soundwave and I'm sure they'll deliver. They get that right and I reckon they'll become the major festival of the year, overtaking BDO and V.

I've noticed that Bleeding Through are touring Europe with Lacuna Coil and Bullet until mid December, both of whom are coming here for Soundwave and BDO. What chance do Bleeding Through have of coming here for BDO second announcement? :P. There new album is awesome, would be great to hear live.

Yeah, Bleeding Through were awesome. Shattered we didn't make it to the Sound desk in the circle pit. They're apparently touring at start of next year with Whitechapel, Between the Buried and Me and Abigail Williams.

Not that I remember. A bit of talk between yours truly and the long haired keeper maybe... Its possible, but I don't think so.

We couldn't get to it because our space was really enclosed..imagine a rectangle shape, with the stage at one end, and the desk at the other. we almost made it though. And i can't remember the dates I saw...I think it was at the end of January. Don't quote me on that though.

Fuck the fucking Kooks. They are coming again, and again, I get to miss them. This is bullshit. Why do I have to be leaving these holidays??? Its seems this summers tours are better than most.

Haha that looks awesome, but then again I don't expect Soundwave to be as crazy as Download.
I'm off to Germany, though I plan on heading to England at some point, hopefully they are on there.

I reckon we can hold our own. It'll be fucking nuts, no matter what.
Even if its not the kooks, you're going to Europe, there's bound to some awesome bands playing that hardly tour here.

No, Not as of yet, but I plan on doing a big lot of downloading this weekend, I'll grab some of their stuff...any songs you'd recommend?
EDIT: Or an album that's best to start with.

Yeah, try Sonnet, Lucky Man & Drugs Don't Work. I'm currently downloading their new album Forth, interested to see if they've changed since their old days... Give us a verdict once you have a listen anyway. Mainly tell me how much better than Oasis they are :P.
Edit: In the case of an album: it must be Urban Hymns. Pure Brilliance that one.

Roundhouse is awesome...good small-ish venue, good acoustics, probably fits about 1500/2000, seen two of my favourite gigs there. Because its on a Uni campus, they have a seperate area where you can eat/drink plus a small outdoors area for drinking. But yeah, I've found its a really good venue for metal bands.
