Quote:About Me
Forum name? scouse_roar
Age? 26
Location? Brisbane
TWG Refugee or 442 Citizen? 442 Citizen
Jersey Number and why? 3 - It's my lucky number, and when I played football I was a left back.
Occupation? Nursing/Midwifery student, part-time Music journalist, part-time Nurse's assistant.
What’s your postage like? I make pretty consistent posts. 7000 odd, of which about half are about Brisbane Roar, about half of which are paying out Sydney F.C. (Fucking C**ts) and a tiny portion of which are inane bullshit in ET.
At what point did you realise you weren't going to make it as a professional footballer? Can you tell us a little about your amateur football career or any other sporting career? I realised when I was the worst player on my year 12 football team that my injuries had come at the absolute worst time - so I quit. This was definitely the right thing to do. Up until year 9 I was a very decent footballer but then had back and knee injuries and a broken leg to top it off.
Where are the burgers better? Nando's.
Tasty Beverage? 1. Cherry Coke. 2. Dr Pepper. 3. Mountain Dew. 4. Solo. 5. Coke.
FM, FIFA or PES? FIFA or FM - used to be an ISS and PES man until they dropped the ball and I've been on FIFA ever since. FIFA 10 and 11 are near flawless football experiences.
Who do you go to the football with? A friend with a disability + whoever else decides to rock up of my Eurosnob mates.
Brisbane/Sydney
Favourite Brisbane player? Probably Matt McKay or Hyuk-su Seo. Both just incredibly nice guys off the park as well.
Currently? Thomas Broich. Great guy, great ambassador, well-spoken, loves this country, loves Brisbane, loves the club, and I can speak to him in German. Big Smile!
Greatest Brisbane game? Roar 2 Sydney 0 in 07/08 - Reinaldo's goal was greetest with the loudest crowd explosion I have ever heard at the stadium. Including Origin or any other event heard there. Just incredible.
Favourite Brisbane memory? Demolishing Adelaide 4-0 after going a man down earlier this season. The whole crowd realising in unison that this season we were contenders.
Worst Brisbane memory? Pretty much the entirety of last season - culminating in the Boxing Day Massacre. Revenge will be sweet this year!
Funniest Brisbane memory? The first ever "Heyyyyyyy Reinaldo, ooh, ahh, I wanna knoooooooow-oo-oo will you score a goal?" or the "Archie Thompson is a pedophile" chants.
Favourite Brisbane goal? Franjic this season w/ celebration, Charlie Miller's volley, Seo's bullet...
The Away Game? I've been to a few away games in earlier years but haven't gone anywhere but the Gold Coast recently because I'm a poverty-stricken student again.
Active Support or the silent tactical analyst? A little from column A, a little from column B. I think Oz Scouser can back me up on the first...
UK or European Terrace Culture? UK
Favourite Chant? "Heyyyyy Reinaldo"
Favourite Sydney player: Rhyan Grant is the only one I tolerate because he's not been corrupted by the cult of c**t that is Sydney FC.
Favourite Sydney memory: pretty much this whole season, but the 4-0 loss against the Mariners was pretty awesome.
Least favourite Sydney player: do you really need to ask?*
Thoughts on Vitja? Keep him! Love the guy! Doing a great job!
And the rest
Favourite non Brisbane player? Euro - Phillip Lahm. A-League - Robbie Fowler.
Favourite other clubs? Euro - Liverpool by a long way, then Cardiff, Bayern Munich, Celtic and St Etienne. A-League - Wellington Phoenix & North Queensland Fury. Other sports: NBA - Boston Celtics. Baseball: Boston Red Sox. NFL: New England Patriots. NHL: Boston Bruins. Notice a pattern?
The club you hate but secretly admire? Tottenham - and the Los Angeles Lakers
Club or Country? Can't split 'em
Other hobbies/sports/interests? Music journalism, going to gigs, video (mostly retro) gaming, record collecting
Ideal woman? Sarah Silverman + Mila Kunis x Amy Adams... oh. A great arse, red hair or pale skin at least, can make me laugh, educated, non-religious, preferably glasses, good fashion sense.
Where would you take lady on a first date? The football - or a good restaurant.
If you could be anybody else for a day, who would you be? Hugh Hefner back in the 70's.
What Film/TV/Cartoon character are you most like, not who you want to be but best representation? A cross between Dr Gonzo and Seth Rogen's character from Knocked Up.
Brisbane Roar
What's the biggest issue for Brisbane Roar from your perspective if any? Maintaining this great run and continuing to recruit well with a view to another successful year then ACL the year after. No issues at all now Reinaldo's left.
What do you put down as the main reason for Brisbane's success so far this season? Ange Postecoglou and his football philosophy. It's so refreshing to have a clear philosophy throughout the team (and the youth team) and to have everyone able to step up into that system. It's minimised our injury and NT duty losses as well. It's nice to have the board backing him to the full too. Interested if he'll plump for some marquee signings or keep it low key.
Thoughts on Postocoglou and his clear out at the end of last season? At the time, I agreed with the players being cleared out. But by doing so when he did, he completely destroyed that whole season and it was a struggle to see positives past a terrible, terrible season and a squad full of dead wood. But we've seen that he can certainly recruit for needs and trusts the players he does get in - and how much of a great thing it was for the Roar and the A-League.
How big of a transformation is the football being played last year to this year with the Roar or has it just been a slow work in progress finally flourishing? It's been a work in progress ever since Miron was there - we've always played fluent attacking football, just not successfully - and had a serious blip last year when we weren't good enough to play any style at all. So from year-to-year there's been a big change - but over the Roar's history it's quite consistent.
FFA/A-League
Ben Buckley, unfairly critcised or out of his depth? Massively out of his depth. Seems like he can only do one thing at a time. Not what you want from the guy in charge.
How would you go about reformatting the Marquee system or does it need to be fixed at all? Make having at least one compulsory.
Would a new PR Marketing blitz on FTA fix the league's crowd problems next season or does the problem run much more deeper? There's lots of markets the FFA and the clubs individually have just destroyed - Townsville is disillusioned with the governing body, Brisbane's board seemed destined to sabotage them last season, Melbourne is a problem suddenly... doesn't seem logical. Marketing will undoubtedly help in all markets, though - I can't see why it doesn't happen.
*You do - I actually hate T-Mac and Shannon Cole almost equally to Brosqunt socceroos_fan wrote:Can you agree that when Alex Brosque came on for Sydney against Brisbane on the weekend he made a huge positive difference to the team? That was more the team lifting because Petratos was on the field - and because they couldn't possibly get lower. He's one footed and hopeless. socceroos_fan wrote:In 25 words or less, sum up your reasons for why you hate Sydney with no stupid slander. Seriously it will definitely add to crowds for both clubs, Sydney is such an adversarial city, you are a pretentious snobby likely gay Eastern suburbs person or a blue-collar genuine Western suburbs person. Will probably be a few ring-in Sydney supporters to bring the total up to 8000 when they play at the SFS - and a packed house full of West Sydney fans when they play out at Parra or whereever they play. raspberryticklebear wrote:Describe Alex Brosque in a long rant He's a despicable, soul-crushingly awful meatworker/hypnotist who has convinced knuckle-dragging morons that he is a professional footballer when in reality he is a soulless, talentless amputee with AIDS in his manc**t and he eats babies. However, I did see our famous victory against Uruguay there, and a number of other games down there, and plenty of bands. God, I love the Enmore - it's like a beacon of light in a sea of shit. Felixx_17 wrote:You gotta shag one, marry one, kill one. Brosque, Surat and Robbie Kruse. :) It's not fair with no girls. But obviously I would kill Brosque. Benjo wrote:Favorite band? Tough one. Quote:About Me
Forum name? Funky Munky aka, That Dickhead
Age? 21
Location? Melbourne, Victoria. aka Greatest City on Earth.
TWG Refugee or 442 Citizen? 442 Citizen
Jersey Number and why? Hmm. I Dunno. I've never had one, coz it's not really a Cricket thing. I'll go with 11. Birthday and all.
Occupation? Student/Dole Bludger
What’s your postage like? Quality over Quantity.
At what point did you realise you weren't going to make it as a professional footballer? Can you tell us a little about your amateur football career or any other sporting career? Evidently I realised this sometime at a very young age, at a very subconcious level, because I've never played any form of Football other than indoor. Played a lot of cricket, was a RF bowler, who could swing a bat. Highest score of 85*, best bowling figures of 6/30. Got cut off by Back Problems before I could take it any further than local district level.
Where are the burgers better? Hungry Jacks, by far.
Tasty Beverage? Alcoholic - Scotch Non Alcoholic - Sunkist
FM, FIFA or PES? FM >>> PES >>>>>>>> FIFA
Who do you go to the football with? Depends. Generally with the Girlfriend. Quote:Celtic Favourite Celtic player?Artur Boruc, by a couple of lightyears. Currently?Gary Hooper, the new Macca Greatest Celtic game? That I watched? Celtic 1-0 United at Parkhead. Pretty much summed up everything that was great about our side at the time. Fortress like defence at home to the best of sides, a stunning FK from the Japanese God that is Nakamura, and Artur Boruc pulling off a superb penalty save to keep our lead. Favourite Celtic memory?Probably the above, but also, Sitting up early in the morning, watching us beat AC Milan 2-1, again at Parkhead. Not only was it a great win, but it confirmed for me just how connected I felt with the club. That, and it was the birth of my worship for the hero that was Scotty Macca. Worst Celtic memory?Probably losing 1-0 to Rangers last season. Was an example of everything that was wrong with the Mowbray side. Lacked everything up front, were under pressure all night, and then conceded in injury time, to all but seal Rangers' title. Funniest Celtic memory?Seeing Gordon Strachan celebrate a goal for the first time as manager. The man goes absolute nuts and covers nearly half the sideline at full sprint. Favourite Celtic goal?Nakamura's first ever Old Firm goal. Words cannot describe, so I'll just post a YT vid. Wait for the camera view from directly behind him, and see how much that ball moves. Just incredible. The Away Game?Being a Brisbane Lions supporter in Melbourne, every game I go to is an Away Game. I love it. I love being in enemy territory, I love the abuse you can cop, I love being outnumbered, and I love it when you win so you can shove it up the home fans. Active Support or the silent tactical analyst?Depends where I am. If I'm sitting at home, a mixture of both. If I'm at the ground, silence goes out the window. Watching a game live is one of the most emotionally draining experiences you can have IMO. UK or European Terrace Culture?UK. Favourite Chant?Oh Artur Boruc wrote:Oh Artur Boruc, the holy goalie he hates the huns. he blesses himself at Ibrox and the huns went of their nut he waves the champions flag cause he doesnt give a fuck. he's off his fucking rocker and he sings god bless the pope. Quote: And the rest
Favourite non Celtic player? Technically Artur Boruc, but a player who has never played for Celtic: Zlatan Ibrahimović
Favourite other clubs? Bristol Rovers, Brisbane Lions, Vic Bushrangers.
The club you hate but secretly admire? Rangers. They are Blue scum, but they're suffering from the same problems we do, and I know how much that sucks.
Club or Country? Club. I've never been one for National Patriotism.
Other hobbies/sports/interests? Music is my life. I think I'd kill myself if I was deaf. Love most sports. Enjoy reading and writing, though I never have the time anymore.
Ideal woman? Short/Average height, Red Hair, Nice Legs, Smart, and must like similar music.
Where would you take lady on a first date? Gotta be somewhere you can talk, and actually learn about each other, so never a Movie or a Concert, unless it includes Dinner/Lunch beforehand.
If you could be anybody else for a day, who would you be? Hayley Williams. Just out of interest:lol:
What Film/TV/Cartoon character are you most like, not who you want to be but best representation? Probably Homer. I'm fairly lazy, say stupid things, drink a lot, but I mean well.
Quote:Celtic
Thoughts on the tenure of Neil Lennon as manager? He's done about as well as you can expect. He's winning games, and his signings so far have been good. There's not much more you can ask of him. I'd have still liked the club to have looked for somone a bit higher up, there were some good names we could have canvassed, but there was nothing wrong with taking the safe option either. He's got the support of the club and the players, and that's the main thing.
Out of two European competitions in successive ties, how big of a blow was that or was it good to focus on running down Rangers? For me, that was a pretty big blow. We should be doing better than that, simple as. Only 3 seasons ago we were making the KO stages of the ECL. That's the level we should be at. That's the level that should be expected of us. We need to get over this mentality that winning the League or a Domestic cup is good enough. We should be looking beyond that.
Whose done well this Season for Celtic and exceeded expectations? Gary Hooper has been superb for us, as has Shaun Maloney. But the best in my mind, has been the Bearded Messi, Paddy McCourt. He's had to step up to fill Aiden McGeady's place, and he's doing a magnificent job. Running past 4 defenders and scoring incredible solo goals helps too:p
Thoughts on the various Scottish League proposals, such as the two tiered SPL currently under review, and Celtic joining a North Sea league or join the English League pyramid? Anything that helps Scottish Football become bigger and better is fine by me. The Two-Tiered SPL has it's good points, but I don't think it's the way to go. Playing the same opponent 4 times in a season is killing the interest in the SPL, and so it's a bigger First Division that needs to be created. I think the SPL's best bet is to focus on something similar to the EPL, at least in terms of size. But then, wether there's the depth of talent in teams to make this an even competition, is extremely doubtful. Something has to be changed though, because Scottish Football is slowly dying a very painful death. I'm also all for the Old Firm joining the English Leagues, because I believe it is the only way forward for both clubs to continue to grow. Not only would it be better for the clubs, but for Scottish Football as a whole, as well. Quote: FFA
What's the biggest issue facing Australian football at the moment? The survival of the A-League. Without a proffesional football league in the country, Football will die off within the decade IMO.
What would you bring to the league if you we're Buckley for a day? Drop all other plans, provide a clear cut ruling on the future of NQ, and spend all available money of promotion and support of the A-League. Forget WC bids, forget new stadiums, because none of that is going to matter if the A-League goes under.
Quote: User Questions
Why Bristol Rovers? They were top of the list of available clubs in Fifa07 (I think). One long career later and I'm a fan:p
Are Sydney fans real or unreal as afro suggest, possibly some sort of Bladerunner FFA Replicant? No Sydney Fans are real, I've met them, and for around 270 minutes of each season, I am one8-[
Are the rumours that implicate you in a series of Blatter-style bribes for your moderation powers true? And what do you have to say to such allegations? KA made a very strong request that I become a moderator, and let's just say it moved me... TO A BIGGER HOUSE. Oh Shit.
Who would you seriously turn gay for if there is actually any one? Probably the guy who plays Dean in Supernatural. Or Johnny Depp.
Enter Shikari or ADTR? At this point in time, Enter Shikari. Between 5 and 5:40pm next friday, ADTR.
Can you post a screenshot of what being a mod looks like? It's not that different. We just have some extra buttons, like 'Move Topic' 'Delete Topic' 'Lock Topic' 'Delete Scouse_Roar' etc.
You and Afro went to high school together, elaborate on this time in your life. (I would like some content that would be at home in "this is your life" with Mike Munro) I was actually on in one class with Afro, and that was in Year 10. German. We spent most of the time discussing different car brands and other motoring points.
Was banning POAKTZI the best ban ever? At this stage yes. But there are some that will be more enjoyable, if they ever happen.
AFL or Football (soccer or whatever you want to call it) AFL till I die.
Have you been to New Zealand? No, but it's deffinitely on the list.
If you could ban a regular in ET for no reason who would you? Afro. Personally don't think he should have been allowed back in the first place.
Miley Cyrus: Hot or not? Borderline Not, but yeah, I would.
Can I sign up for this pleaasseeee? Sounds like great fun! No. Feck off.
How did you come up with your 442 name? I dunno. I thought it sounded funny at the time. I'd change it if I could.
Why did you choose the Brisbane Lions? Born and Bred Fitzroy Lions supporter. So when the Merger happened, it was a natural path to follow.
Is simpsons the best show ever created? No, that would be Top Gear.
Favorite premier league team? Tottenham Hotspurs.
Did you ever discover who made the stuff appear on the top of your roof? Nope. It never came back eithr. Terrifying stuff IMO.
Do you own a H2O vac yet? No. Slowly convincing the GF. She has all the money.
Moreover, have you ever experienced an inexplicable late night urge to Zumba? Thankfully, No.
In 20 words or less recount the events around the death of JFK. JKF in car. Sniper on Grassy Knoll. Guy in building framed. Conspiracy? Nah.
Please explain string theory in 20 syllables or less. All of Space is made up of vibrating strings.
Why haven't you adopted an A-League team so to speak? I've tried. I'm trying to follow the Heart, but I just don't feel a connection, and can't honestly say I care about the club.
Why Funky Munky, why? Coz I'm Awesome, that's why.
5 people you want to invite to dinner? Kumar Sangakkara Leigh Matthews Jeff Ling Mick McCarthy David Wong
Your favourite species of the monkey? Why? Whatever kind of Monkey it is in Pirates of the Caribbean. Because they're awesome, and I want one as a pet.

I'm doing one at a time, so then you don't have an influx of seven members a day and then nothing the next day... might have a member one every day or second day, so you can have 3-4 members a week, the whole point of the thread is to cut through alot of the crap on AF and whatnot I can send out the template now, but when it's your turn i will give you a couple of questions about how your club is going, an upcoming game, recent result, the issues around the club etc etc. and then one or two about the FFA/A-League itself and then you'll get user question that have came in over a day or two, i think that's fair way to go... I've got a vague list in my head of people who have asked and the order so don't worry Scouse ;) (I'll send out a template to the people on the vague list now, which includes myself so you'll be up sometime this week or so... and if you don't get it, well get a ticket and get in line for the time being) Quote:I reckon it should be. Also note with the increase of questions that i'm letting Funky pick and choose the questions he takes from forum members, or he can do them all if he pleases, this will be for everybody who takes part... Funky may want to answer all the questions or he may cbf'd and do half of them as he pleases, it's not a requirement to do every question
