+xAre you assuming this was Moon? Few other Aleague coaches I could see punching a player before him. I joined the dots
“He was on the ground, he was available and we needed someone quickly,” he said of Green. But looks like Rudan is bookies favorite

"Kovacevic also backed the hiring of the little-known Green, who was recommended for the role by Roar legal adviser Dale Cliff."
Really?!?!?!?! I've now heard it all. The legal adviser recommending coach appointments.

Article from Marco on the coaching situation. Paul Pezos considered early frontrunner for Brisbane Roar coaching jobAdelaide City NPL mentor Paul Pezos is the early favourite to coach BrisbaneRoar next season following the sacking of Warren Moon. The Roar on Tuesday confirmed Englishman Nick Green, a former Brisbane CityNPL coach, has replaced Moon – who was axed on Monday – in an interim capacityfor the remainder of the A-League season. Unless Green works miracles between now and the end of the season, it’sextremely unlikely he’ll become the club’s permanent coach. Roar general manager Ante Kovacevic confirmed Pezos, former Brisbaneassistant coach Ross Aloisi and ex-Socceroos striker Damian Mori were among thecontenders for the job. At this stage, 44-year-old Pezos – who made three A-League appearances forPerth Glory in 2006 – is the frontrunner. When contracted by News Corp Australia on Tuesday, Pezos – who guidedAdelaide City to last year’s NPL South Australia premiership-championshipdouble – made no secret of his desire to coach the Roar next season. “I definitely do; I have done all my coaching badges so I can be a careercoach,” he said. Aloisi is currently without a position after parting ways at the end of lastyear with Japanese champions Yokohama F. Marinos, where he was an assistant toKevin Muscat. Aloisi’s previous stint at the Roar ended on ordinary terms with club ownersThe Bakrie Group following the removal of his brother John Aloisi as head coachin December 2018. Ex-Roar marksman and two-time Johnny Warren medallist Mori is currently onAdelaide United’s coaching staff. Kovacevic also did not rule out the appointment of an overseas coach. He also defended the club’s decision to sack Moon, with the Roar strugglingin second-last spot on the ladder and without a win in their past sevenmatches. “It’s a results-based industry,” Kovacevic said. “Time is running out this season and we need try something different.” Many felt Moon had performed admirably under the constraints of a tightbudget since taking charge in 2020 after the club parted ways with Liverpoolgreat Robbie Fowler. But it was an argument that didn’t wash with Kovacevic. “I’d say the Central Coast Mariners (2nd) and Adelaide United (3rd) are runon similar budgets to us and look where they are on the ladder,” he said. Kovacevic also backed the hiring of the little-known Green, who wasrecommended for the role by Roar legal adviser Dale Cliff. “He was on the ground, he was available and we needed someone quickly,” hesaid of Green. “I’ve heard people say good things about him and bad things about him … butfootball is a game of opinions.” Moon’s coaching staff will remain in their roles, with Green adding JoeDolan to the football department. Kovacevic denied suggestions Green’s appointment was part of a move for hisPro-Player Academy to be integrated into the Roar system. “There’ll be no outsourcing of an academy to anybody,” he said. The Roar shut its academy in October last year, but retained senior NPL andunder-23 teams which are mainly filled by players aged from 15 to 21.

Just like the mediocre football that gets played on the pitch so is the coaching stocks of the Aleague. The only team that has improved as the season has gone on is AU which has become a lot more consistent. Well done to the coach and his staff.

+xApparantly they've changed coaches Yep, Nick Green replacing Moon as interim coach, and they've noted they are now undertaking a recruitment process for permanent head coach. I imagine unless results are disastrous for the rest of the season, it will probably be a "worldwide" search that ends up with Green getting placed permanently.

+xanyone heard any rumours about potential signings? it seems that the roar are always so tight lipped about prospects, we never hear anything until they are here. from earlier in the season we heard about potentially Kruse and Zullo but i would have thought that given they are free agents and can sign at anytime if they were coming in they would already be on the books. I haven't seen anything specific, just that they were looking. Moon did say they knew about Austin's situation for a few weeks prior to the announcement, so had been looking for a while for a replacement. Regarding Kruse, I can't remember which article it was, but it was recent and did mention that we were looking to sign him but that things had still not progressed.

+xLooks like Danzaki has left Consadole Sapporo, so will be interesting to see if we sign him on permanently. While he played well in his first spell in Brisbane, I think he has looked quite average in his second spell. I wouldn't be rushing to sign him permanently at this stage.

I think if he had been in a team like Adelaide who gets the ball into the box frequently or someone who created more sustained pressure he would have been very good.
He kept wandering around looking for the ball and a sa result ended up nowhere near the box if it ever did arrive there.
Seeing him live once here in the cup I thought he was going to tear up the league but I think even Brisbane fans would agree there's not much cohesion in their team and it then was apparent he was not happy personally either.

+x+xThe sooner Brisbane get either a new owner or the city gets a new club, the better. It's a disgrace. Hâte to say it, but I agree…Wouldn’t be at all surprised if Austin thought what the f$&k have I got myself into here. Brisbane do need a second club to put a bomb under this management to get their shit together. Truer words have never been spoken. Austin reminded me of that play boy in the film Goal. Loud mouth, cocky and not that great. Even looks like him. Having said that, he did show sparks of brilliance now and then.

All the best at Swindon Town to loud-mouthed Austin. Just look'n for a gig back at home all along, whilst being ordinary at the Roar.

+xHas Fong or anyone else at the club made a comment about the Sydney Grand Final deal. One suspects the silence signals their traitorous support to potentially disadvantage our club. Does Fong know where Sydney is?

+x+xChapman not playing v Sydney seems to me to have had a better outcome in defence being more disciplined and balanced. not really sure about that. apart from the city game where he had an absolute shocker chapman has not done a lot wrong. he was great in the mcarthur and victory games where we kept them scoreless, and was not at fault for the wsw goal in an otherwise good performance. there were a whole heap more last ditch blocks for us yesterday than there has been previously. perhaps more desperation without chapman but a whole lot more pressure on the backline overall i thought. I much prefer 4 at the back than our 3/5. When we moved to 4 at back midway through the second half against Sydney, we looked more dangerous. Teams have an extra central midfielder that allows them to control possession and chances. Sydney and Victory dominated the midfield. A back 5/3cbs with 2 wingbacks relies on attacking wingbacks who can cross in the front third - - we lack these. Armiento is a poor defender but can cross; Courtney-Perkins is a makeshift CB (can't attack). Trewin is a right footed CB/CDM but is often played at LB or RB which he adds little going forward. Hingert is ok but his final delivery is poor..... I d prefer us to play 4 at the back with courtney perkins at LB with Hingert/Trewin or Neville at RB. Allow extra midfielder in centre to control middle. If we play 5 at the back, then Mileusnic needs to up front to offer danger on the counter attack. Moon is overloaded with defenders that he tries to fit in the team. If Chapman comes back, he ll be put at RCB (as awful at LCB without a left foot -- see corner he gave away and penalty vs city). This will force Neville to play LCB. Neville is a better RCB as it enables him to bomb forward, overloading the right side with the RWB. Hingert-Neville-Aldred-CourtneyP or Trewin-Armiento would be my back 5 if going to play one. Any thoughts ?
