Are you even talking about the right person!!??!!

if you read i said the last 5 years. READ since hull he has been a bench player the last 2 clubs he played for he came from the bench

and what are you reading ? are you serious 20 goals in 46 appearances what herbal tea you on he scored like 3 goals in 30 matches for them and yes he was coming off the bench for them in the premier league to.

READ what i said i said 5 years ago he was performing well but the last few years has not done much so not sure if he still has it. Last team he did really well at was celtic

BUT anyway

there has been a few times he has been linked to the a-leauge and each time he has rejected it. Pretty sure he wont come but i hope he does if he still has it and can perform he will be one of the better strikers in the a-league.

Since VoH is wanting a Jan move, I can't see him coming here and staying with the Heart come January.

I know that Heart have Babalj injured, Maycon is taking time to settle (or is just a dud), and Hoffman playing as a midfielder...but I do believe it is best to stay away from this guest stint stuff. Of course, Heart's striker problem is something that many fans want fixed, but why hasn't Hoffman been played there? And I mean, give him the starting striker position...I don't know if he played as a striker or midfield in the derby cause I didn't notice him (#notatroll).

Hoff was doing well in pre-season, for Heart and Roos, playing as a striker. So, why hasn't he been used like that in the season proper? Is he really better playing as a midfielder?

I don't care what team it is, I just hate the whole idea of the 10 game stint. I know there are cases where the stint can turn into a permanent move for the player, but I just prefer players signing on for full seasons, not less then half of one.

He came on as a midfielder - and had an instant impact. We controlled the ball better in midfield - looked a lot more dangrous going forward. Not playing starting him was a big mistake, Thompson was poor all game.

I have no objection to Hoffman being used as a striker - I had him pencilled in there from the start of the year. I feel that we need to find a CB which is decent - and accordingly i'm happy to sign one to a 10 game contract - giving us 10 games to dispose of Colosimo, and sign the replacement long term. It won't happen, but our biggest issue is defence, not attack.

So when we controlled the game in the first half, Thompson had nothing to do with it? And did Colosimo sleep with your missus or something? You seem fixated on him.

With no Colosimo and Thompson in defence we conceded 5 goals in 2 games. Bring in Colosimo and play Thompson in midfield, and we conceded none and dominated most of the game. I think we still need a proven finisher. Hoffman, Maycon and Babalj are all developing (or in Maycon's case, maybe he's just no good) and we don't know if any of them will be good enough in the end.

I'd be rapt if we got JoH.

Precisely - Thompson was giving up the ball constantly, poor passing and offered very little. What he did do was play the ball back to the defenders - which was rather pointless and defensive at inappropriate times.

As for Colosimo he makes far too many mistakes for a CB. Hamill and Good have both been better. That said, he played well tonight, much better than last week which I was glad to see.

With regards to those goals, goals will be conceded in games of football and Thompson was responsible for several of those goals. We were lucky not to concede several goals vs Victory - more a credit to their poor attack than our good defence, as we made far too many stupid errors. Newcastle would have put away 3/4 against us (playing as we did vs Victory) and Brisbane would have run up a cricket score.

Hoffman and Babalj are fine, better options than what we have been seeing out there lately. But our problems stem from poor coaching, an insistence of using a lacklustre midfield (Shroj, Thompson and Germano - they should never all be on the field a the same time) and you can get the best striker in the world, but it will all be useless if there's no service from the midfield. It has killed us the last 3 weeks and i'm getting sick of it.

Hoffman did play a bit as a midfielder in the pre-season, and I remember seeing him doing well there. I also remember Hoffman said in an interview somewhere he can enjoy playing in midfield, in a role without the pressure of being a striker, the guy furtherest up the pitch with expectations to find the back of the net.

If he keeps playing like he did in the Newcastle game with a fine assist and in the last 20 minutes in the derby then I say keep him in the midfield.

The Age is reporting it a strong possibility and it makes sense for both Jan and Melbourne Heart!

Though I'd prefer the other guy...younger, scores a lot and in better form - however it seems less likely he'd want to come out here.

Looking at what we know about this player the club is looking to sign:

- Dutch nationality
- Plays as a striker
- Has played in Scotland and in England

Additional information (that supports this player signing) :

- Must be a free agent in order for heart to sign
- JVS personally knows JVOH from his time as manager of FC Twente, ALSO from his time as assistant coach of the Netherlands during when JVOH was capped for the national team

find me another player who ticks all of those points

JVOH is not going to come to Heart

not saying he is, but I'm not saying he isn't either.

But going by those points, it's very likely he is the player the club has targeted, so gotta be open minded about this and admit that there is a possibility of this happening

Why are you denying it so much anyway? Are you scared that next derby it could ACTUALLY end up 4-0 win for heart? ;)
