Kewell, Hernandez, Solorzano, Rojas, hardly sound like pathetic players. Defensively I totally agree.

This is what he should have had to begin with. It was always going to take more than half a season to reverse the damage caused by Durakovic.

Isn't three years a bit much considering he hasn't showed anything positive yet.

2 years would have been better, but it's not true that he hasn't shown anything positive yet. It has been obvious that the team has transitioned from a clueless rabble under Durakovic into a incrementally improving work-in-progress under Magilton.

He has shown enough to me to show that he at the very least deserves a chance to have his team playing his way, and see how it pans out.

That what I mean. I said pathetic squad, not pathetic individual players. The squad as a whole was horrible and terribly unbalanced.

This, when Jim took the reigns for this season it was always going to be about damage control and teaching the team to start playing some decent football after the mess it was left in when he inherited the position.

I don't think he can fairly be judged untill he has an offseason under his belt to clear out the dead wood and start recruiting new hungry and talented players that fit the footballing philosophy he intends to implement. I think he has shown glimpses of what he can do with the increasing work rate of the team and the gradually improved playing style, I'm more than happy to give him a chance.

1 win in 9 games isn't worthy of a 3 year contract, he is an expensive coach (by HAL standards)

You think Chelsea or Real Madrid would sign a coach who took over and won only 1 match?

Even a side like Wolves wouldn't sign a guy for 3 years with such a s**t record.

Dont get me wrong i completely understand he took over the club when the squad was a shambles but 9 weeks he hasn't really fixed anything. If he has a shit season next year everyone will look back and say how did he get the job? he has done nothing have used a nice resume i say find someone else or try someone else because this guy isn't a championship winning coach just look at the way Victory play...

Why commit him for so long give him 1 year and see how he goes give him 3 and ur at risk of destroying the Victory

Sure, I don't see any harm in giving him the opportunity to build his own squad, but 3 years seems a bit much. In all honesty, if they don't win next year he'll be out if that's the case.

You would hope that the board would be smart enough to put performance based criteria within any contract they draw up with Magilton. Anything less than a top 4 finish next season and ACL qualification the season after should be considered a failure.

Is the real problem a certain KM though? Just a thought.

JM has not exactly had heaps of time to turn things around and it sounds like he would like a new squad to work with next year. It will depend on his vision and how its sold to the club.

3 years would be insane though.

The idea that the manager should get to 'rebuild' anything is ridiculous and costs clubs money.

The board and it's technical and football directors should be getting a manager who can play the way the wider technical/football department has outlined.

Very harsh on mem. Many of the players were signed without his control. But now you guys have Jim who has strengthen the squad and has done worse than mem.

Those who follow the club closely can see what Magilton has brought to the team. It may not show up as wins just yet, but there is a palpable feeling of optimism and leadership. There is no question who is really in charge now and he has helped in the improvement of Rojas, Fabio and Jeggo, the ridding of some dead wood and the signing of Milligan (and the big spanish girrafe, but I put that down to desperation more than anything). I think he is the right man to rebuild the club.
