I have a sneaking feeling that Sydney boy Aaron Mooy will be coming back to Australia for the new Western Sydney team.
Who do you think could be returning from O/S to join the WS team? Or who would you like them to sign?

Lets wait until a Coach and Football Director are named to fully determine their style and approach to playing the game. Without that, you could name just about all players as targets, which is not very helpful.

You are a 100% correct Heart_fan but I'm not sure the FFA work that way plus the like thing means anyone that people would like not who is so opinions not stonewall facts are the order of the day. Of course people could say Messi or Ronaldo but I would hope people use common sense

The only Australian marquees who I could see have any affect on crowds would be Cahill, Neil,Kewell and Schwarzer. I think Timmy still has at least another year in him in the EPL. Kewell should stay loyal, Schwarzer has no interest in the A-league and Neil cares about the $$$.

I reckon that the guys still on multi-year deals with Gold Coast will definitely be transfered to Sydney.
Halloran is the only one I know of but there's another 2-4 players I think also
Ljubo and Bouzanis would be interesting/good pick ups

It would create a big buzz for Western Sydney and help draw crowds for them, it would be great for West Sydney but I disagree that it would be good for the league as Kewell in Melbourne is best for the league in terms of the media buzz he has in Melbourne and creating headlines and awareness for the league. Burns_22 thats a good list however I think Griffiths is a good chance to end up at MV once a manager is appointed as he is/has been training with us, also apparently Shane Cansdell-Sherriff isn't that interested in the A League and loves the lifestyle where he is so I can't see him coming back.

I could see Bouzanis coming back, I doubt he likes playing second fiddle to Cisak. Maybe Carney, but that seems more of a stretch. He could have returned for regular game time this season but chose to stay in Europe. Any of the youth from Gold Coast are easy pickings and it'll be interesting to see where they end up. Maybe not this year, but I can see Nathan Burns drifting back to the A-league.

Edited by Guido: 12/4/2012 10:28:28 PM Yes but at what cost? We have a lot of cheaper (still good) keepers in the NSWPL , GCU and VPL.Carney is a maybe, however maybe WSW should look at league he was playing in Spain for some gems. Btw has the euro crisis affected many of the small Euro leagues or second division clubs wages budget? Edited by erb: 12/4/2012 11:20:13 PM

Ex-Adelaide United star Marcos Flores tops list of potential recruits for western Sydney A-League team By Tom Smithies The Daily Telegraph April 06, 2012 8:24AM On the radar ... Flores is reportedly unhappy at his club in China. Source: Bianca De Marchi / News Limited Former A-League player of the year Marcos Flores has emerged as an obvious target for the new western Sydney team, as news of the club's arrival in the competition sent shock waves through the ranks of local players. http://www.foxsports.com.au/football/a-league/ex-adelaide-united-star-marcos-flores-tops-list-of-potential-recruits-for-western-sydney-a-league-team/story-e6frf4gl-1226320279269A-League Squads Finals: A-League squads - finals W2 + 9 The gifted Argentine, rated the A-League's finest import before Thomas Broich lit up Brisbane Roar, was nominated by a number of senior figures in the game canvassed since news broke that a western Sydney team would join the A-League next season. Flores, still only 26, is on a lucrative $800,000-a-year deal with Chinese side Henan Jianye, after leaving Adelaide United last season, but is believed to be unhappy in China. So far it is unclear when the new team will start signing players, with Football Federation Australia sensitive to accusations that as the governing body it is also assembling a team's roster. Start of sidebar. Skip to end of sidebar. End of sidebar. Return to start of sidebar. That makes the appointment of a CEO and football director the priority, but it's understood players and their agents are already signalling interest in joining the new side. Other players off-contract domestically include Carlos Hernandez at Melbourne Victory and Issey Nakajima-Farran at Brisbane, both possessing plenty of flair that would attract crowds to the new club. But a number of players who are under contract are also believed to be interested, including Mark Bridge at Sydney FC who has stagnated for the past two years and could seek a fresh start. There are also current Socceroos Mark Milligan and Jade North who, while well established overseas, might be receptive to the right offer given their previous affiliation with the west of Sydney. Mile Sterjovski, who retired from the national team last year, recently moved to China but is believed to have a clause in his deal that could allow him to return in July. But a clutch of players coming off contract are likely to be on a recruitment list for the new club, including Jeremy Brockie, Tarek Elrich and Kasey Wehrman from Newcastle Jets, Kristian Sarkies and Ante Rosic at Melbourne Heart, Pedj Bojic and Tom Rogic at Central Coast Mariners, plus Gold Coast United players such as Michael Thwaite and Jarred Tyson. With the new club anxious to strike a chord across a multitude of areas and cultures, there are players whose attraction goes beyond football, such as Iraqi international Ali Abbas and Brazilian striker Bruno Cazarine at Sydney. Veteran goalkeepers Ante Covic and Clint Bolton are off-contract at the two Melbourne clubs and both have strong connections with Sydney that might tempt them to give the new franchise a year of service. Former Sydney FC defender Jake Timpano and Ljubo Milicevic, released by Hadjuk Split, both offer A-League experience, as does Adam Griffiths, training with Melbourne Victory but so far without a contract.

I knew the West Sydney team would have a use to us! It'd be a step up for both clubs. Actually he's a westie boy, grew up around St Clair, know a guy from there who's mates with him.

Ljubo is a free agent after his Hajduk adventure didn't work out. He would generate publicity - just not the kind you want.

If they're targeting Sydney players they could take a long shot at Richard Porta?
