Surprised that nobody's posted this. Quote:Adelaide United want Marcos Flores to return from Chinese Super League
Val Migliaccio The Advertiser May 03, 2012 12:00AM IT'S a complicated scenario for Marcos Flores. The playmaker's Chinese club is fighting to stave off relegation and he's contracted until the end of 2013. But talk of a return to Adelaide United is premature with Flores more concerned about his club's Chinese Super League future. Flores refused to speculate but was happy to say Adelaide is still deeply embedded in his heart. "I cannot believe all of the love the Adelaide United supporters have given me after all this time," Flores said. "They have supported me and I keep in touch with a lot of them through Facebook." Flores's Facebook page is flooded with keen messages from Adelaide fans that have all have a common theme - they want him to come back to Adelaide. But since his club Henan Jianye appointed former Australian under-17s and 20s coach Jan Versleijen this year, the 2011 Johnny Warren medal winner has felt the brunt of a brutal struggle for survival. With nine points from eight matches, Henan is a win clear of the drop zone and Flores's game time has been limited. The Argentinean just does not fit Versleijen's formation which is seemingly too rigid to include him. Adelaide officials copped a backlash from fans last year when Flores was sold to Henan for a $500,000 transfer fee after he became the first Red to claim the Johnny Warren medal. Adelaide offered Flores a contract extension that was about $600,000 less than Henan's yearly offer. After Adelaide officials claimed Flores had the best-ever deal for a United player on the table before he was sold to Henan, the club announced the signing of fringe Socceroo Dario Vidosic as an Australian marquee a fortnight later. It's understood Vidosic was offered a contract that bettered the deal proposed to Flores. But in a twist of fate if Adelaide was to re-sign Flores, it would have to seriously consider releasing Vidosic and possibly striker Serginho van Dijk. With Adelaide officials implying it is tightening its purse strings since former coach Rini Coolen was demoted last December it appears budget restraint will work against luring Flores back. To perhaps compound the issue Adelaide officials avoided a potential flashpoint with the team over a fortnight ago when players refused to foot the bill when the club asked for a paintball session payment. http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/sport/soccer/adelaide-united-want-marcos-flores-to-return-from-chinese-super-league/story-e6frectc-1226345204390 Misleading title, imo.

The rumors are just that, but if he was to come back to the HAL the epicness of my meltdown if he does not sign for AUFC will be epic.
