Along with a team or two from Indonesia, and a team or two from Malaysia.

I will never understand you people who wish for this to happen.

I never understand people who want a team in Geelong, we should all round them up and shove them off Cunningham Pier or blindfold them drop them and off in the middle or Corio and see how long they survive. I love regional Victoria but it will be a third Melbourne club before Geelong.

Anyone would think you didn't like Geelong mate

I'm the first to admit that Geelong is way down the pecking order - however, should not be discounted as one day being part of the national competition.

Haha my partner and her family used to live just north of Bannockburn and are obsessed with the Cats and everything Geelong. Much much prefer Ballarat to Geelong. But hey will be fun going down there this year for the National Premier League to see the Red Devils wins.

One day Geelong should make the A-League, but as maybe the 18th or 19th team.

Haha we shall see! I think the the only teams from Geelong were North Geelong Warriors and Surfcoast FC (The Geelong Galaxy bid wasn't submitted for a 'unified' Geelong team). Might go along to a few games, see how I feel.

Haha well knowing tonnes of Victory fans who also support Liverpool, the idea that Victory supporters can make a correct decision once in a blue moon is not a foreign concept to me, doesn't rectify their glaring fault but it makes them tolerable.

But yes make it down to Morshead Park this year it looks absolutely superb!

I just cant take anyone who wants a team in Malaysia or Indonesia seriously...they have their own leagues and the constant travel costs would be rediculous ffs...it just doesnt make any sense

Ballarat, North Geelong, Shepparton and Surf Coast are all believed to be in the NPLV with Bendigo, Wadonga, joining in 2015, will post when confirmation from the FFV comes, but there has been a delay which isn't a good sign...

Greater Geelong Galaxy did not submit an application, but I believe they will in 2015(confirm?)

FFA Cup Ballarat vs Bendigo oh yeah.

“FFV recognises the tremendous level of effort and resources required to produce an NPL submission,” FFV President Nick Monteleone said.

“All applicants should be congratulated for their dedication in submitting an application. I would like to also thank the Assessment Panel for its hard work reviewing all 37 applications.

Potentially North-West and South-East with the top two from each, making it to the FFA Cup and playing off for the final. That being said many still want a straight league playing every club once.

It would stretch the elite pool of players very thin most definitely. Have also been told this year may simply be one that decides who plays in what division next year with the top 16 going into div 1 and the bottom lot going into div 2. It's a messy, messy situation.

That makes a bit of sense and it is a way of sidelining the politics but it also looks a bit like face saving for FFV.

Or maybe, just maybe, Malaysia with a population of nearly 30 million and Indonesia with a population of 10 times that should be able to host their own domestic leagues, whereas NZ *might* have the potential to support 2 professional clubs, but not an entire professional league.

Australia has fuck all population centres that are capable of hosting pro football, a strong team that could capture the Auckland market would do more for the league than just adding bulk regional sides or splintering markets like Sydney or Melbourne again just to add another side. Auckland and Wellington can provide Australian players extra opportunities just like Cardiff and Swansea teams in England and be regularly paid in a country that provides a stable economy and nearly identical culture to Australia.

Your anti NZ shite is bordering on xenophobic and is utterly boring as fuck.

ffs an Asian A-League team isn't going to happen, and it shouldn't.

New Zealand to the A-League is what Wales is to the Premier League.

Adding a team from Malaysia to the A-League would be like adding a team from Ghana to the Premier League (the cultural differences are just as great, and- look it up -Accra is closer to London than Kuala Lumpur is to Sydney)
