I'm not sure if this is the correct thread or not..

I don't quite understand why the FFA are so against flares, etc - yet when CCM score at home there's such a pyro show.

I have close friends who were in various locations of the front 5 rows of the away bay at Gosford this year, and all complained of getting smoke/heat/etc in their eyes and struggling to see properly for up to 10 minutes after the cannon exploded (and, let's be blunt, against the Jerks it has exploded a fair bit this season). One friend even needed to go see a doctor about it, as he got stuff stuck in his eye and had to get them washed out.

Apart from serious skin-contact burns and lighting something on fire, I can only really see flares being an issue for the smell/eye danger stuff. Why are they then actively promoting and encouraging CCM to choreograph the same thing?

I know the guy who went to the doctors was wondering whether he could get compensation for what he paid to go to the doctors - I wonder if he took it up with CCM and/or FFA if they would consider it?

To the extent of my understanding the FFA owes public liability to all patronage at the stadium. Part of this is the liability of pyrotechnics. The cannon at the CCM games is in a 'controlled' environment rather than in the hands of the general public. If the FFA are unaware of there being an issue from the cannon then they can't do anything about it. I'd say your mate needs to get in contact with the FFA (in a non-abrasive manner) to raise the issue and push for CCM to either change their approach or remove the cannon.
