If you can afford it, there is no better place to live than Sydney. You need to be in the right areas otherwise it can be a shithole. Super expensive and plenty of parts would be rubbish to live in (like anywhere I guess).

Serious question, where in Newcastle have you been?
Around Humter Stadium and in the city centre, so yeah I was a bit harsh but still, didnt like it.

That's why, the city centre and surrounding areas of Hunter Stadium aren't glittering places (although normally a city centre is supposed to be good, I get that)...but the areas surrounding the numerous beaches here are just magic. My team did a pre-season training session around Bar Beach and King Edward Park and I was so jealous of the people who get to live so close to the beaches and get those sort of views from their windows.

I've never been to Adelaide but I'm sure it has some fantastic places and some shitty places too, just like most places.

tbh if we have visitors from afar come see us, we take them around lake macquarie & the hunter valley. newcastle cbd is fine to drive through, the beaches are great, but i wouldn't take people to the cbd and say "voila".

if anyone ever comes up to newy from around aus, give us a yell & we'll give you a tour.

I don't think I could ever live in Adelaide, i found it too small and nothing going on. It seemed like an absolute ghost town on a Sunday.
Also, last year I went to the races at both Morphetville for the SA Derby and Flemington for the Victorian Derby, the differences between those two events say it all about each city really.

Spent a week in December down in St Kilda and loved it. First time I'd been to Melbourne (excluding being at Tullamarine airport purely in transit) and I found it easier to find my way around than in Sydney.

I love living in Melbourne but it is getting really fucking expensive. When i was going to/had come back from Sweden one question a lot of people asked was about how expensive it was over there because they'd heard it was ridiculous, a lot of them wouldn't believe that it was cheaper there than in Melbourne

I can't believe how expensive it's become to live in Melbourne over the last 10 or so years. Unless you live out in somewhere like Packenham or one of the buttfuck nowhere, 2 hour commute to work type places your cost of living is insane.

Adelaide is great! I love both Sydney and Melbourne as travel destinations. Brisbane CBD was a bit lack luster for me. Trying to find a nice relaxing cafe without being too commercial/pretentious seemed a bit of a stretch. One of the things I admired about Brisbane was the road infrastructure, compared to Adelaide was class. Not sure if I could cope with the constant humidity though.

The problem with Adelaide is a minority of well to do snobs that whinge about change, I think they breed and the problem becomes perpetual through the generations. I think though Adelaide is slowly waking up. Adelaide Oval redevelopment and breathing life into the Torrens should have been looked at 20 years ago.
