-PB This. What's really incredible is that Ozboy, Afro, Notor and I have found something we all agree on.

Mozilla wrote:How are there people who actually support this ](*,) How are there people that don't? Good idea, fully supportive. Not that it will probably stop it to the extent they're hoping, but at least it's proactive.

Just to add fuel to this discussion: Incidents of rape have dramatically decreased with the rise of pornography in the west.
Will be very interesting to watch the rape stats over the next decade.
On the plus side, it's good if they are preventing kids getting addicted at an early age.
Also, the prostitution industry in the UK is really happy about this. Buy stocks in strip clubs now!!!

Edited by neanderthal: 24/7/2013 06:23:52 PM I don't believe the two things are linked. Porn and rape and poles apart (unless obviously it's those porn movies that actually depict rape, and I'm all in favour of banning those).

I really don't understand how anyone can see this as a good thing.

Edited by neanderthal: 24/7/2013 06:23:52 PM But by the same token, instances of rape have also increased in countries where pornography is illegal such as India. Correlation does not mean causation. The thing that I don't get is that they want to censor porn on the intnernet, but they have late night shows like Babestation showing softcore porn on television on a nightly basis.

Regardless of whether it's a good thing to do or not, it is an expensive waste of time. Won't protect children from viewing porn, as they are always the most technically savvy so of course they will proxy around the filter and teach each other how to do so. Won't prevent deviants because the successful ones adapt to survive and develop the skills necessary to do so. Won't prevent your regular citizens who want porn as they will whitelist it for their residence.
The only people who will have any restriction to their activities after this is implemented are regular citizens who don't want to view porn. A whole mess of steam and bluster for a political participation award ribbon, I really hope this doesn't cost their taxpayers much because they will get nothing in return.
