He was Marquee level a couple years ago, back when he was last available.... but NOW, tbh, Phoenix would be ripped off a little I think, less he was a 'Cheap Marquee' like Broich or the like?
Smacks a bit of some of our aging NT stars, who detoured in their early 30s to the Mid-East before having a brief stint in the A-League in their mid-30s and retiring the season after.
They've already earned their big bucks, including these recent Asian deals - their reasons for 'returning home' are surely for more than money. Again, IF it IS AS Marquee, I hope the Phoenix are not over-valuing him because as discussed too, they already have a promising team, including upfront (Star import Huysegems upfront, Brockie, Hernandez, Cunningham, Ifill and Boyd about too?) and if anything it may take a little while to integrate big Killen into Merrick's style?
And dare I say, where the likes of Killen = Marquee a few seasons ago, the rate the A-League progresses now, I don't believe they are now, just how Sterjovski, Kewell, Kisnorbo and co aren't!
