The current policy of the government and the last one makes me sick . Refugees aren't a political play thing . Their human ffs ,both sides need to stop trying to appeal to the lowest common denominator and actually y ' know have a proper policy and not some catch cry of stop the boats or its the previous governments fault .

your argument makes no sense dude.
what people are saying here is to pretty much abolish borders all together. I mean why would someone apply for a working
visa to the US for example, and follow proper channels when you could just turn up on there doorstep and claim asylum?
policies and rules are there for a reason, you cant just open the floodgates and be like hey, things are bad in your country cool, come here and settle. what would you do if 100 million people turned up and wanted to claim asylum? can you save and accept everyone?

Stop making sense. We have to accept everyone. It's inhumane not to. Who cares how much it costs or about the negative impact it will have on our communities

What magical solution do you propose? Either you can open the borders and enable the people smugglers to transport people on un-seaworthy vessels many that will inevitably sink and kill the people on board, which is cruel and inhumane, or you can close the borders and deny asylum seekers their wish to seek asylum in their country of choice, which some might argue is also cruel and humane. So you have to decide what is more moral, obeying outdated international policy or saving lives?

I don't think denying people the right to come here illegally and dangerously is particularly cruel, there are many other destinations where they can resettle which offers a much safer passage of travel. Some of those countries don't offer the high standard of living that we offer, so they take the risk to come here, but we shouldn't facilitate people smuggling , deaths at sea and queue jumping just so people can gain a higher standard of living.
