I didn't think a state FFA branch could make this decision? Not a fan of the present system anyway. but think any system put in place in the future will be just as bad.

I should add that FQ have been asking if people think that the TD are a good investment. Or should they do something different.

I didn't think a state FFA branch could make this decision? To be fair its best you can have whilst not having a professional a-league team down there, i don't mind any pathway as long as they are getting quality coaching and advice, thats really is the difference regardless of any pathway.

I didn't realise FFTas had the autonomy from FFA to make this decision to axe the program.

I hope one day the ntc will be scrapped national curriculum s are terrible in normal teaching as it stifles inovation and ingeniuty. The only reason a ntc is so good at the moment for football is because we are remedial

The only reason a ntc is so good at the moment for football is because we are remedial This is a massive topic. I've been professional teacher for 30 years and a football coach for 14. The British National Curriculum I taught in Kuwait, in 2002/3 was very prescriptive. It was too prescriptive, as is the American curriculum. The current Australian Curriculum gives a lot more scope for teaching autonomy in the classroom. It is easier for students to move from state to state and adapt. The FFA National Curriculum in football is heavily based, as one goes into youth and senior ranks, on coaches identifying training ground content from diagnosing problems centred around the games played by one's team on match days. This is similar to what they do on Spain, Holland, Germany and France. So essentially we are on the right track. The FFA NC also means there is some convergence on quality coaching. In the past, we had football coaches doing all sorts of different things across Australia, based on all sorts of dodgy practices. Because one coach was doing well, using sound methodology, it doesn't mean that practice was shared with others. At least with a NC there is a national body ensuring sound coaching practice is disseminated around the country, in theory. Edited by Decentric: 21/8/2014 11:10:06 PM

actually my wife is an american teacher (was she is changing careers) there is zero flexibility there significantly worse than aus
The best teachers in my experience were ones that were able to innovate. I think less and less innovation is allowed
unfortunately we are so remedial in our football knowledge we need something centralized like the ntc
I liken this to how central planning in china is getting its economy on its feet but at a certain point the central nature of it will be a detriment and it will have to move to a mixed economy with a real democracy or stagnate.
As long as our youth continue to improve I support the ntc mind you
The last few world cups at u20 our for and against was
Did not qualify For: 2 against 8 For: 4 against: 9 For: 3 against: 5
The last series of friendlies in the usa was impressive too Also a league graduates are going straight into good 2nd teir leagues with no apprenticeship

I thought Lonton had been sacked? His mate, Dean May, has just had his contract terminated in Tasmania. In his defence, May coached the NTC to play a good style of football.

In this state there is great scope for teachers to innovate. When I taught with other teachers from all other states in Australia, we definitely had more autonomy in what we taught in the classroom in Tasmania. There has been great scope for innovation.

I'm happy to have retired from football coaching with geriatric aches and pains. There is a new generation of coaches in this state, some current NPL players, under the tutelage of the excellent FFT's head SAP coach , Anthony Alexander (he sometimes reads this section). They are involved with elite juniors/ youth and further down. These guys are right into the FFA NC and want to see football played like Roar, AU and MV.:) Edited by Decentric: 22/8/2014 05:07:12 PM
