Squibbed it big time just like we did.

Had a argument with a bloke yesterday about this. He said they hadn't thought it through properly.

Bugger that. Make the decision and then sort it all out after. That's what the US did when JFK said they were going to the moon.

If it were these days and they had to fill out a fucking risk management matrix before they got off their arses they'd still be sitting around wondering if they really could have gotten there after all.

With the attitude of some here and over there nothing big will ever be achieved. Sometimes you have to think big, sometimes you have to think grand, sometimes you need to aim for the stars..

Bit of a difference between aiming to go to the moon and deciding whether or not a country will actually be able to sustain itself in the future if it goes it alone.

This. Especially considering how fragile the international economy is now.

Meh.

Scotland should be allowed to do what they like. Doesn't mean they are gutless. Its a democracy, they voted to stay. Its not our call.

Of course it's different but the point was that if you worried about what might happened nothing would ever get done.

Same as the "right time". There's almost never a "right time" to do anything if you listen to the naysayers.

And I agree but possibly going into a depression isn't worth it.

The greater good etc.

The killer blow was the independent research showing that oil revenues were likely to drop faster than expected - at that point anyone with a child and half a brain would have thought 'what about the wee bairn's future?'
