Sack this bloke immediately. Australia is a part of the Asian Football Confederation whether you like it or not NZ. http://www.nzherald.co.nz/sport/news/article.cfm?c_id=4&objectid=11392063Steven Holloway: Asian Cup success bodes well for U-20 event 5:00 AM Tuesday Jan 27, 2015 The infectiously vibrant Asian Cup football tournament being contested in Australia is an encouraging portent for the Fifa U-20 World Cup New Zealand is to host this winter. The tournament, held for the first time outside Asia, has been a raging success with crowds exceeding Football Federation Australia's wildest dreams, and contests capturing the imagination of the wider sporting public.

If they want to be a part of our league, how about showing us some respect? NZ HAVE to accept that we (i.e. Australia) have farked off from their shitty little corner of the world to play football in Asia. If they want to continue to have an isolated South Pacific “local rivals” mentality, then fine, but we’re NOT a part of it. That’s all.

Edited by RedKat: 27/1/2015 12:20:26 PM In terms of tectonic plates, Australia is separate, but that's about it. Nowadays, Australia is essentially part of Asia, economically, culturally, etc.

Asia is bounded by the Arctic Ocean to the north, the Pacific Ocean to the east, the Indian Ocean to the south, the inland seas of the Atlantic Ocean—the Mediterranean and the Black—to the southwest, and Europe to the west. Asia is separated from North America to the northeast by the Bering Strait and from Australia to the southeast by the seas and straits connecting the Indian and Pacific oceans. The Isthmus of Suez unites Asia with Africa, and it is generally agreed that the Suez Canal forms the border between them. Two narrow straits, the Bosporus and the Dardanelles, separate Anatolia from the Balkan Peninsula. http://www.britannica.com/EBchecked/topic/38479/Asiahttps://www.countries-ofthe-world.com/countries-of-asia.htmlCome back when you have found a source that includes Australia within Asia.

So we could be australian football Confederation. We win the cup every 4 years. Israels part of uefa. When it shouldn't be any more of a part of it then say... palestine. Why doesn't russia play in asia? If you're talking about football and the Asian cup. .. were part of asia. If you're talking tectonic plates then we're not. Simple.

The reporter should of copied and pasted Wikipedia's entry:
"It is the first time that Australia has hosted the tournament, and it is also the first time the Asian Cup has been held outside the continent of Asia"
But splitting hairs really

How can anyone argue by plates, India is part of our plate, and Europe and Asia are on the same one.

The Australian plate is in the process of colliding with the Asian plate and at some point in the future Asia and Australia will be joined, although many of us won't be alive when this happens.
