There was an article on the local Jeep executive gone rogue and his big spending spree on celebrities and other stuff. Kewell was getting paid by this executive a million a year plus 2 cars, and other stuff,so thats why he kept coming back to Australia and then Kewell was made to play for Heart. It was no desperate attempt to get into the Socceroos side. I think they have sacked the executive but Kewell is the winner with a million a year deal till 2018.
