Luke Brattan flies to UK seeking club hoping Brisbane Roar appeal over his leaving heard soon

SOCCEROOS squad member Luke Brattan has delayed his return to Brisbane from Tajikistan, instead flying to the United Kingdom for talks with clubs.

Midfielder Brattan, who remains uncapped after watching Australia’s World Cup qualifying wins over Bangladesh and Tajikistan from the bench, is with his agent Ritchie Hinton in England hoping to finalise his move from Brisbane Roar.

That is despite the Roar having appealed an independent arbitrator’s decision to rule in favour of Brattan’s bid to leave the club through a free transfer due to the delay in the payment of superannuation.

Wonder if he get's paid on Tuesday if Bakries haven't given in by then ?

Depends when the appeal hearing is I guess - can't see them winning that so I'm surprised they even appealed. Bakries though do make some dumb decisions !

FORMER Roar midfielder George Lambadaridis has returned to Brisbane in the hope of earning a new deal with the three-time A-League champions.

Cut at the end of last season before the arrival of current Roar coach John Aloisi, Lambadaridis returned to his home state Victoria and trialled with Melbourne City, where he enjoyed a second-half cameo against English Premier League giants Manchester City at Robina in July.

He wasn’t offered a contract by Melbourne City but could yet get another chance with the Roar, who are keen to bolster their midfield stocks in the likelihood that Luke Brattan has played his last match for the club.

“We’ll see what he’s like and give him an opportunity. He’s a different sort of player to Brattan, but George has got qualities as well.”

Lambadaridis will feature on Saturday when the Roar host fellow A-League club Newcastle Jets in a 2pm trial at the Cleveland Showgrounds.

Cant see them signing anyone they don't have to sign

If they've got to reach a certain squad size then it'll be minimum chips players, sounds like Lambadaridis would take it

McKay and Broich can come into the cap if they're still under the Cap Floor

The Brattan camp hopes the latest Roar appeal will be heard next week as they want the saga to end one way or another.

There is every chance the matter may drag on until the end of the month, as the Roar have other issues to address next week.

They include the monthly payday for staff and players on Tuesday, as well as a scheduled Supreme Court date on Wednesday with Gambaro Pty Ltd, who are trying to have the club wound up over a debt of more than $30,000.

Keep spelling this guys name wrong so I'll call him Lamba, but seeing Lamba a couple of years ago just before he was injured he showed enormous potential as a youngster. If he's now injury free Roar would be the one club that can turn him into greatness if he applies himself. Losing 2 years of football is quite detrimental however.

At this rate there training facilities will be the carpark behind coles. Nothing great will come from there.
This guy would be lucky to sign now and hope the club is taken over this year and he is kept on.

Captain Matt McKay said Brisbane Roar's stability and longevity were the main focus of the playing group, as the club battles a financial crisis that could see its licence return to Football Federation Australia

We're not here to just play football, we want more than that," Brisbane-born McKay, 32, said.

Brisbane's Indonesian owner - the Bakrie Group - is facing massive difficulties and efforts to sell the club have so for proven unsuccessful.

With less than a month before the start of the A-League, McKay said the club's situation was far from ideal.

"It's definitely on the players' minds because the issues the club is having are well documented," McKay said.

"The worst thing is if the off-field stuff starts affecting us in the way we play.

"We don't want that to happen."

When asked if the players yearned for a quick resolution so they could get on with the job of doing what they do best he retorted: "Ideally, we'd like to do just that.

"But we won't be satisfied with just that. We want to be at a successful club where everything is run rightly.

"We want to do well on the field and off the field too.

"We obviously have had some success in a short period of time which we we would like to continue. We want that success to be reflected off the field as well because these things go hand in hand.

"We want to be happy and more importantly keep our fans happy.

"So we need the right structures and the momentum to move forward.

"We get jealous when we see other clubs do really well and we want to be like them.

"We want the league to do well and our club to be a good ambassador of the competition."

"I'm not speaking as the Professional Footballers Australia president but a Brisbane Roar player.

"First and foremost I'm a Brisbane player
:-k and I'm very proud to play for the club."

McKay admitted he was more "hopeful" than confident that the ownership issues surrounding the club will be resolved by the time the club kicks off its league campaign - in the season opener - with an away match against Western Sydney Wanderers on Thursday 8 October.

McKay wants his contract guaranteed before he goes on strike.
There is no need to have a Roar team if the players want to strike, the Bakries can ride out a striker easier than actually playing.
The FFA should not be stupid enough to fall for these tatics.

"We're not here to just play football, we want more than that," Brisbane-born McKay, 32, said.

Brisbane's Indonesian owner - the Bakrie Group - is facing massive difficulties and efforts to sell the club have so for proven unsuccessful.

The group has until Tuesday to recapitalise the club.

PFA demands immediate resolution to Roar ownership woes
Professional Footballers Australia (PFA) turned up the heat on Brisbane Roar and Football Federation Australia (FFA) to take immediate steps to remedy the ownership crisis at the club with the A-League kick-off now just five weeks away.

Sacked coach Mulvey takes Brisbane Roar to court
Brisbane Roar's crisis has deepened with news that the club has been hit with further legal action from former coach Mike Mulvey, and a catering establishment.

FFA call for patience as Bakrie Group remains in charge of Roar
Football Federation Australia (FFA) has called for patience after meeting with the Bakrie Group today, who will remain in control of Brisbane Roar for now.
With less than a month before the start of the A-League, McKay said the club's situation was far from ideal.

"It's definitely on the players' minds because the issues the club is having are well documented," McKay said.

"The worst thing is if the off-field stuff starts affecting us in the way we play.

McKay admitted he was more "hopeful" than confident that the ownership issues surrounding the club will be resolved by the time the club kicks off its league campaign - in the season opener - with an away match against Western Sydney Wanderers on Thursday 8 October.

McKay, whose memorable assist for Harry Kewell in the 2011 AFC Asian Cup quarter-final against Iraq made people aware of his potential as an international player, is very much involved in Ange Postecoglou's World Cup plans.

He said the Socceroos were on track to take part in their fourth straight World Cup after snaring maximum points from their first three qualifiers in Asian Group B.

Five things we learned from the Socceroos' games in September
It can often be difficult to decipher exactly what to take out of comfortable wins against sub-standard opposition. So, what exactly can we take from Australia's last two FIFA World Cup qualifiers?
"It's a great start especially with the extra challenge of playing more games away," he said.

"Kyrgyzstan was the biggest challenge and we passed that ... just.

"But our last two games against Bangladesh and Tajikistan were really good and the boss was happy.

"This augurs well for our next game against Jordan in Amman in October."

McKay has played 57 times for Australia since making his debut in 2006 and he admits it is getting harder to get into the team with so many good players coming through.

"It is harder now, definitely," he said.

"We have a plethora of attack-minded midfielders and wingers which I think is great.

"You always have four of those players for the middle three in a squad.

"Thankfully we are very strong in these roles and in the wing positions at the moment."

FFA will yank the license if players aren't paid tomorrow.

I know what "recapitalising" means but in Roars context I do wonder what it means? Just enough money to pay next months bills or enough money for say Aloisi to go out and fill all or some of the 3-4 vacant squad positions?

If I were the FFA I'd want them to put the likely costs of the season (ie, the overall losses in money this season) in the bank.

I think the FFA is being incredibly stupid , give the PFA a one way ticket to Indonesia to get the money from the Bakries.
I would be ringing Bakries and telling them its okay to pay this one as late as they want.

If the Bakries don't pay Gambaro's tomorrow, presumably Gambaro's will win their court case and will wind the Roar up.Which means FFA have to step in.also if FFA have given the Bakries a deadline of tomorrow, they are as good as gooooooooone.

Rock and a hard place - Backries stay and the rebellious fans won't show, FFA take over and will we lose any players? Bratten (gone any way) is off the hook but could we lose others?? Plus the FFA sold us to the Bakries and have watched this crisis go on since July 2014 so the FFA are about as popular in Queensland as David Gsllop will be at the PFA Christmas Party this year. My guess is the Bakries will stump up, someone's told them the next TV rights will be "big" making Roar easier to sell - they're greedy and gullible which has proven to be a dangerous mix

Gambaro's are no longer a factor in this, not from the football side anyway - the FFA have said all debts are to be settled by 5PM Tuesday and all players paid, if that's done the court case obviously stops; if it's not done the FFA move to take the license back in which case the court case proceeds but by the time the administrators get there all they will find is an empty shell of a company and an empty bank account. Tuesday is the big day now IF the spineless FFA stick to their guns ....?

I think the FFA is being incredibly stupid , give the PFA a one way ticket to Indonesia to get the money from the Bakries.
I would be ringing Bakries and telling them its okay to pay this one as late as they want.

Que?
If the Bakries don't pay Gambaro's tomorrow, presumably Gambaro's will win their court case and will wind the Roar up.Which means FFA have to step in.also if FFA have given the Bakries a deadline of tomorrow, they are as good as gooooooooone.

The players then launch a strike the minute they get paid or the FFA takes over and pays them. Tell the Bakries not to pay the players, then let them use the money to play Gambaro's off and let the PFA head McKay stew.

Brisbane Roar owners face deadline for A-League club cash injection

Posted yesterday at 5:44pm

Time is almost up for the embattled owners of Brisbane Roar, who will be stripped of their A-League licence if they fail to provide the club with an instant cash injection.

Only a miracle financial turnaround will save Indonesian conglomerate the Bakrie Group, which has been given one final warning by Football Federation Australia to clean up its act.

Players and staff are due to be paid their monthly wages on Tuesday and if they are not delivered on time, together with a long-promised recapitalisation of the club and the immediate clearance of debts, the Roar will be in FFA hands by the end of the week.

"Everyone understands what's at stake. While the Bakrie Group's assurances have been comprehensive, it's time for action," FFA chief executive David Gallop said in a statement.

"The payment of salaries is due tomorrow (Tuesday), plus the commitment to clearing debts and recapitalising is due.

"Any slippage in these timelines will see the start of the process =; to revoke the Brisbane Roar A-League licence."

Gallop's ultimatum comes after months of hesitation from the governing body, which has watched on as the three-time champions have lurched from crisis to crisis over the past few months.

The Roar has repeatedly missed payroll deadlines, star midfielder Luke Brattan is agitating for a release, a string of angry creditors are chasing a litany of unpaid bills, and fans have vowed not to renew memberships until the Bakrie Group relinquishes control of the club.

All up, it has caused untold reputational damage to a club that only a few years ago was one of Australian sport's greatest success stories.

Two Bakrie Group representatives told FFA in a crisis meeting in Sydney last month of their intent to stay on as Roar owners for at least two more seasons, with a view to eventually selling the club at a profit.

But few of the promises they made in that meeting have been delivered upon and with the A-League season kicking off in less than a month, FFA can afford to wait no longer.

Nor, for that matter, can the Bakrie Group - the wind-up motion put forward by local pub Gambaro Hotel over a $30,000 debt is due for mention in court on Wednesday.

Former coach Mike Mulvey is also suing the club for nearly $300,000 plus damages for deceit and misleading conduct following his sacking last year.

Brisbane only narrowly avoided liquidation last month by addressing a $60,900 debt with the Queensland Rugby Union at the eleventh hour.

FFA is already in control of the Newcastle Jets, although it is believed the sale of that club to a consortium headed by Dundee United chairman Stephen Thompson is imminent.

A local Brisbane group has been waiting in the wings to rescue the Roar if required, but has been unwilling to take on the debts that have mounted during the Bakrie Group's ownership of the club

Was there any doubt at all that someone would want one of the greatest clubs ever? I mean unlike the dopey imposters SFC they didn't even re-employ Farina.

The fact is any new owner would be silly to pay for what the bakeries are asking for and being lumped witha huge dept to pay. They are all waiting for the licence to be taken away, liquidate the old roar and come in dept free.

As for losing players, i guess most squads are pretty much full at this stage with cap space getting tight. Unless they are fringe player wanting more game time and the new club can offer it to them. I think most will stay. Theo to me is a prime candidate to go, although coming back from basically a year long run of injuries. But he definitely has to fight for his spot now that Jamie conversion to a sweeper keeper is coming along nicely.

Brattan had made noises to leave for a couple of seasons now so these events are just a reason to be opportunistic on his behalf. He may not go yet.

The point I make is that good clubs are in demand so new owners standing in the wings is no surprise. I hope the Bakries get shafted because if they don't we can expect two years of nothing.
