On this forum, its fine. Have rules. Ban people who say things are not sanctioned.

In real life I am a proponent of free speech. People should be allowed to say what they want in public. If comments are so outrageous and out of order then they will be shouted down/fired from their job, estranged from their friends etc.

We do not need the government to criminalise words. That is Orwellian.

People who are hurt by words need to learn how to defend themselves in public. You must be allowed to criticise anything because, the moment you ban some speech it encroaches on others. We are beginning to see this with criticism of religion being labelled racist. Wait till you're not allowed to criticise a person's political stance, let alone their religious one.

People who are offended by words generally have insecure/dangerous/offensive/ridiculous opinions and get shitty because not everyone wants to play their games.

I agree with your post entirely. Making it illegal to criticise stifles progressive debate. If you can't criticise religion, it should be entirely banned from all aspects of life save for the privacy of ones home. Same for politics. If you don't want to be offended, don't talk about it :lol:

Private forums can have their own rules. So can google. If they want they can kick you off if you say something they think is inappropriate.
