I think it was during the Socceroos match against Tajikistan that they mentioned a $2M bid for him had been refused by Melbourne City by an oil club last transfer window.

So would assume the same would happen if another oil club came calling. He doesn't seem like the type to go to the oil leagues.

They've already knocked back 2mil from Al Nassr.
I reckon the championship is what he needs. They say it's the league with the least time on the ball, and I think if he can improve his handling speed, in the course of a season, he could move to the Premier league.

I like the idea of that 2 Buli team that is going to be promoted. But obviously they'd need to be able to fork out enough and they'd need to see it as worth their while.

If Mooy went to Ingolstad it could go very badly or very well.

Yep. Not the quickest, but has the sort of passing range you'd see in the EPL.

Pace is what is holding him back. He can tackle, pass, score goals and his set pieces are top notch.

He's better served in Italy or Spain. It's a tad slower than Germany and England, but still the Serie A and La Liga are world class leagues and very good technically. I can't see him slotting into a Villarreal or a Fiorentina, but I can see him at a Real Sociedad or Empoli. A mid table top flight club.

I meant more because they're both excelling in their own countries but not being tested in the big leagues.

he doesnt move around very quickly, and i thought the same about pace.

but as ive been watching more closely ive seen him chase down some pretty pacey attackers. really surprised me how quick he actually covered ground.

That's interesting to note, I haven't really noticed him chasing down pacey attackers. He needs to be able to do that. You could see an overseas club wanting him for more of a deep lying playmaker role, where he can sit in front of the defence and pick passes, start attacks, those types of things. You also need to help out defensively and one part of it is closing down attackers.

I hope the scouts didn't watch last nights game though! :p

we haven't had many (if any?) players go to the championship and improve over the last decade or so

I think it's a somewhat different league to when Nick Carle went through. Gotta remember that Championship clubs go looking for dynamic players. Carle, Corica, Rogic ect... So there is a desire for flair there. I think teams are playing better football now than 5 years ago though.

I wouldn't normally say this, but I'm in support of a Watford move. The thing about him is he spent considerable time in the english system, he understands british football, and he has the strength to excel in that kind of environment. With his added little flashes of creative flair he has the potential to be a real impact player for a championship team.

I think luongo has lost some of his flair since going there even though he came from a weaker league. This is despite luongo being a standout the last 2 months or so for his club

also i will never forget jedi's suicidal tackling when he played there! cost the roos a pen and a red card

No championship would not suit him at all. Bloody long ball league would ruin him i reckon. And he'd probably get chopped up.

His style would suit perfectly in La Liga. If that wasn't a possibility i'd be aiming for a move to the Serie A or Bundesliga. He's one of our top national players, he would be able to handle top flight football in a major league.

Fiorentina actually play a style that would very much suit him tbh. But knowing the club it's unlikely they will take a real punt on Mooy without previous Euro experience. When they signed Brillante I was pretty shocked, but then seeing the loan deals, it wasn't surprising in the end. Mooy is however a much better player than Brillante is so who knows.

Championship is a dumb football league tbh. Won't learn anything there other than to run harder and perhaps become more physically tough. There are a dozen other leagues i'd want Mooy to be in before venturing into Championship. He's entering his prime, and what makes him stand out is his technique and ball passing vision (as well as his free kick ability).

If he were a speedy winger or a solid defender, i'd be all for him to move the Championship. His qualities don't suit championship whatsoever.

anyone think Pep Guardiola could look at Mooy? Toure will be gone in the summer maybe a few more? I think Aaron would be close to Delphs level...
