Was there talk of Danish (or was it Dutch) scouts at Jamie Maclaren's last match?

I hope to see him go to Europe very soon. He needs to to really improve as a player.

I'm wondering if he could cut out the middle-man as it were and go directly to something like the Premier League, the Bundesliga or La Liga. It's probably wiser to go Eredivisie first.

For what it's worth, I can see some similarities between Jamie Maclaren and John Guidetti. I haven't seen too much of Guidetti play. He seems to be direct, quick and powerful.

There may be distinct differences. Perhaps our Swaussie contributors could make a better comparison.

This is a highlights reel of Guidetti playing for Celta Vigo. I wonder if Maclaren could do similar things in that league or similar.

Edit.

I've just watched a second clip. On second thoughts, perhaps it's too much to expect that Maclaren can do that kind of thing so soon.

Based on this second video I've seen. Guidetti seems to have the finishing ability of Vardy, the ball control of Tom Rogic, the pace of Robbie Kruse, the free kick taking ability of Aaron Mooy and the confidence of Zlatan.

Still, I reckon a move to the Eredivisie or maybe 2 Buli would be the way to go for Maclaren.

With talk of the pet-rat also going to Denmark, wouldn't be surprised if a club tables an offer for both of them.

Another season in the a-league wouldn't do him any harm. By that time he'll more than likely have gotten his chance in the socceroos squad which will put him in the shop window. Last thing we want is another Taggart.

Taggart's problem was that he just wasn't good enough. There were too many aspects of his game that were lacking.

Maclaren is 23. That's young but not that young. The longer he stays, the more it will, in all likelihood, limit his options. Because, assuming he can't make the jump to a very big league straight out of the A-League, he will have to spend many seasons on stepping stone.

oi nah.

this is the future club legend of Brisbane you're talking about.

i mean, Matt McKay is great and all.... but his statue outside Suncorp would come up a bit short beside King Wally.

Jamie's here to stay in the river city.

Last I heard they're trying to reduce the losses

Having a team with McLaren in, and at the top of the league, isn't making much difference at the Turnstiles.

According to twitter page O/S Aussies, Trabzonspor in the turkish super lig have been linked to Maclaren.
Here's the link to the post off TurkishFootballNews that they responded to.

that's inaccurate. taggarts problem was that he went to a club in total meltdown and was taken out by injuries for over a year.

taggart never really got a decent run.

You may be right, I found the word google translate was turning into "struggle" and tried it in a few different dictionaries.

mücadele
struggle; fight; fray; contention.

mücadele etmek /la/ to fight, struggle, or contend (with).

I'm about 90% certain it's fledging... Translation to Danish and Swedish goes into "Kæmpende/Kämpande" which does translate to struggling, but sort of lacks the negative connotation that comes with struggling in English... It's not a loosing fight, just a fight - potentially for growth/survival... So depending on the situation could justifiably be translated to both Struggling and fledgling - I'd suggest it'd be fledgling in this case, without knowing much in Turkish other than how to get myself a royal beating ;)

Turkish league probably isn't the worst place for him to go - they do seem to get some scouting action from the rest of Europe and there's certainly some ties to Germany at the least. It's not Besiktas, Fenerbache or Galatasserai, but still, there's some decent opposition for him to gauge himself against.

Yeah I agree I reckon it'll be a very good move for him. I think any of those Belgian, Dutch, Turkish, Portuguese leagues would be a good move.

Those 4 young guys improving more and playing together again next year could be something special. Watching the ACL with Sydney, would like to see how Jamie would go against that level of competition (if we qualify - knock would).

Both of them are on contract till the end of next season... I suppose City could repeat the Caceres stunt, assuming the FFA hasn't closed the "loop-hole" by then, but unless Victory has some sort of club connection oversease, I'd be surprised to see MacLate go there :) - apart from the bit where surely he could get a decent deal in Europe at this point.
