If he had just said that it would fine, "I prefer my own race etc" but he has said that interracial relationships "uggghh" displease him. That comes from a place of hate for whatever reason, it could be any combination of colour.

Race splaining

Its not the race, it's whether or not you can see a white person inside that other person

Or something to that extent :-k

Edit whitesplaining's not even a word, the Greeks invented a word called solipsism. How empty do you feel now?

Thought this was "unpopular opinions"????

I dont think they should be banned across the board. We are a free country so wear what you want to wear.

BUT!

If you are in a situation where you are asked to remove it such as a bank or for a drivers licence then you must remove it or not use that service.

Fine for what? To wear in public at all?

I don't like them, but I think people should have the right to wear what they want, with all the caveats about the ability to identify on drivers licences etc.

That's what I meant. In public do what you want. However, for security reasons people need to understand that their removal is necessary.

Niqab's and Burkas must also be banned when driving as they narrow vision.

I remember an article in Sydney of a young muslim woman accusing a police officer of discrimination because she was pulled over driving erratically whilst wearing a niqab. This shit cannot be tolerated.

(*edit* I didn't want to go on a rant here, but this issue is something that's been stewing on my mind over the past year or so, sped up by things like the Adam Goodes saga and the lock-out laws. Bear with me if you can- you've been warned!)

There are two groups of people in Australia who are giving me the shits because they (more than anybody else) are contributing to the erosion of our culture, common identity and improvement as a Western, first-world nation.

The first people I want to call out are the Baby Boomer, conservative wowsers. The people who control the majority of our country's wealth, own the majority of property and land and (with the ensuing group I'll name) have the biggest influence on our laws and policies. These people stay wide awake at night, terrified that somewhere out there young people are taking drugs, getting drunk, enjoying loud music or doing anything else that involves having fun in groups. This fear is fuelled by the horror stories fed to them about P-plate drivers, girls overdosing at music festivals (never mind the army of Police and sniffer dogs that panics them into doing this), coward punch attacks and whatever other storm in a teacup is the flavour of the week amongst the trash media. As a result, these people wilfully support virtually any new laws that make this country an even bigger nanny-state than it already is, under the guise of "well at least they're doing something because these people can't control themselves"- and God-forbid if you want to get a bottle of wine in Sydney after 10pm. Hooligans! This wouldn't be so bad if our government (made up largely of 'boomers themselves) didn't introduce and encourage all these ridiculous, borderline condescending laws as a way of short-term vote buying rather than using some common sense, thinking long-term and considering that our country is fast losing its' "laid back" reputation that has proved so popular with overseas visitors.

The second group are the Gen Y/ Millennial hipster leftist, green, Invasion Day, perpetually offended brigade. These people are too young and naive to realise that so much of the media geared towards their demographic (Triple J, Ped. TV, Buzzfeed, ABC News, The Guardian, The Daily Show, Huffpost, The Project etc) is biased and usually stacked with people who all just happen to agree on climate change, refugees, racism, feminism, LGBTQWERTYBVCXSAAHGFTCBM rights etc. They truly believe that somebody like Waleed Aly is a centre of the road "voice of reason" and that the only bias exists amongst racist Bolt, Jones, Hadley and all those other people their handlers and the cool people tell them to despise. The Adam Goodes saga revealed how dangerous the line of thinking from these people is: that you virtually cannot criticise anybody from a minority group (whether a long existing minority group or one of the 5 new minority groups you've been discriminating against, created each week) without being instantly screamed at as a bigot/ racist/ homophobe/ Islamophobe/ transphobe/ evil right-winger etc, regardless of what it is about that persons actions/ words you disagree with. Rap and hip-hop were based on not caring about political correctness and freedom of thought/ expression, yet even the Aussie rap scene has become a leftie circle-jerk. Whether it's Briggs with his copy-paste of the "white racism" meme from American culture, Illy wanting to "flood the houses of climate change deniers" or any of these other artists hating on evil Rupert Murdoch, conservatives, the Catholic Church and the usual leftist bogey men while preaching about Islamophobia, climate change, feminist issues, refugees and the like- even the rap scene has become infected with this mind-cancer. The worst thing about all of these people? They think they're smart and they know what's really going on- because they're told so day after day by their handlers in the media. They think the validity of your opinion is dictated by the colour of your skin, your gender and what university degree you have. They don't see racism or sexism when it's directed at white males (because fuck those privileged racists, right?) The don't realise that modern day universities are largely production lines for the next batch of useful idiots to repeat what they've been indoctrinated with. These people- as a whole- are turning our country into a hysterical bunch of whiny piss-babies who want to shut down debate and freedom of speech whenever it suits them- and give certain people/ groups a free pass because to demand equal accountability is "racist" "sexist" or "Islamophobic". They're too stupid to realise that instead of bringing us closer together as a nation, this obsession with ethnicity, culture and gender is actually dividing our country.

The thing about these two different groups of people is that it's a working definition of horse shoe theory. I'd like living in Australia a lot more if I didn't have to listen to the bullshit from these people and watch them take our free, multicultural, egalitarian society down a dark road. I fear that these people are why we will never have stable government again. Even somebody as fondly remembered as Bob Hawke would have been chastised as PM in this day and age for being a sexist, boorish, beer-sculling idiot (and probably something about racism or white male privilege as well). John Howard (who even won over a fair few traditional Labor-voters in his time) would have been given the same bashing Tony Abbott did- and look how long he lasted...

Edited by Captain Haddock: 21/4/2016 02:06:25 PM

There are only two intellectually honest debate tactics: (a) pointing out errors or omissions in your opponent’s facts, or (b) pointing out errors or omissions in your opponent’s logic. All other debate tactics are intellectually dishonest - John T. Reed

The Most Popular Presidential Candidate Of All Time (TM) cant go to a sports stadium in the country he presides over. Figure that one out...

I fucking love this

I love the 'typically bearded (if male)' 16-23 year old uni students who have all the greatest ideas on how to end every imaginable problem with the world as long as it's the 'rich corporations' they so vehemently despise that pay for it. They oppose things they don't understand because facebook told them to (oil and gas industry being one of my personal favs). The same fuckers think they deserve to get paid more money to do less work. They're upset because they're working jobs they hate because 'they haven't figured it all out yet'.

My personal favorites are the people who oppose knocking down trees to build houses, oppose building massive sky scrapers and yet complain about the cost of rent. You can't have it both ways sweetlings

I know the people you speak of, I know them well.

The most unnerving thing? When I was in Highschool, I thought South Park was this completely outrageous, OTT show. Yet the older I get, the more reasonable and even-handed it seems in it's treatment of pretty much everything. I mean fuck- they've even coined groups of young people as 'South Park Conservatives/ Libertarians' to reflect the views of a generation of young people who are against the modern day left/ liberal ideology and embrace more traditional values but aren't carrying on like they were brought up by Ned Flanders!

There are only two intellectually honest debate tactics: (a) pointing out errors or omissions in your opponent’s facts, or (b) pointing out errors or omissions in your opponent’s logic. All other debate tactics are intellectually dishonest - John T. Reed

Burqas should be banned.

Thought this was "unpopular opinions"????

I dont think they should be banned across the board. We are a free country so wear what you want to wear.

BUT!

If you are in a situation where you are asked to remove it such as a bank or for a drivers licence then you must remove it or not use that service.

Hijabs are fine. Niqab's (eye slit only) are not.

I don't have a problem with them.
However a premises/shops should be allowed to ban them if they want , as you are not allowed to wear a MC helmet for example. If they impede vision they should be banned from bring worn while driving.
Public transport is a grey zone.

The feeling I get these days is that younger people (not that I'm old, I'm 26) seem to throw in the towel and blame everyone else for their problems rather than sticking it out.

The teenagers we have working as technicians for us are glued to their phones for 8 hours a day and generally have a hard time sticking to tasks. The engineers have to crack the whip constantly on them. It's like dealing with children.

I haven't had much experience working with them, but questioned how 1 person could take 3-5 shit breaks per day. I had to ask my boss "does this person have a medical condition?" "not sure why?" Etc.

I think they are discriminated against openly. I asked older people "but weren't we the same?" No , we were not.

Yep definitely.

I think the old motto of 'work hard to get ahead' is being replaced with 'bitch and moan about corporations and the government because you're a lazy sack of shit'
