+xOne person's XI for Brisbane: Still no Nigro! Keen to see Theoharous, but I wish Kev let these guys spend more time with the first team on matchday prior to throwing them into the deep end. Perhaps a more conservative XI using tried players while sticking to Kev's beloved Plan A would be: FBK Georgevski - Broxham - Austin Mahazi - Valeri Donachie - Ansell - Baro - Geria Thomas Needs more Broxham as striker tbh.

Wouldn't mind seeing austin play as the central striker, he has the body shape for it, not sure on his intelligence in the box but if the only person in the way is howard then it should be a no brainer. Howard shouldn't even be playing under 11s let alone the 1st 11.

+x+x+x[quote]Melbourne Victory announce parternship with Victoria University
I believe this may be part of the inner workings of this new academy we keep hearing about. The proposed land is very close to one of the major VU campuses in Footscray.
When you say very close, you mean on campus for Footscray... But great idea. Bed in to the community there. Not quite on campus, it's using council owned land right next to their Footscray campus. They'd be a great fit for a partnership, IMO. Foostcray paisley park campus. The other one is on nicholson street

+x+xAny news on Baro staying? Personally hope he does. Also - Troisi will sign on for two years - but as a marquee. That means if Millsy comes back he'd have to take a pay cut. Not sure if that would happen seeing he is on massive Arab wages. Yeah but doesn't seem to be having a good time over there. I also think as the cap grows and things like Berisha coming off marquee status, FBK leaving etc there will be a fair bit to throw around. -PB Iirc millsy has been released. So he aint on arab money no mo'

Youth prospect Christian Theoharous set for Melbourne Victory debut against Brisbane Roar ......Theoharous headlined the Victory youth players who trained at Gosch’s Paddock on Wednesday and will travel to Brisbane, with striker Pierce Waring also in the mix to travel as Victory are down to bare bones with four players on World Cup qualifying duty. http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/football/a-league/youth-prospect-christian-theoharous-set-for-melbourne-victory-debut-against-brisbane-roar/news-story/925563ac7a1a58f45a8e78667dd63d7f

Wouldn't mind seeing some of Pierce Waring. Ol mate George Howard has shown literally zero in all his senior appearances that makes you think he will be any sort of contributor (may or may not look better in NYL or NPL, but has yet to translate to nary a nutmeg in seniors).

I think the criticism of Howard is unwarranted. Kid is only 20, does well in a side that knows how he plays, does a tremendous amount of work off the ball and puts himself in goal-scoring positions.
Has he done enough to push for a starting position normally? Nah. But he also isn't that appalling that he shouldn't be given a chance. Both his goals against Murray two weeks ago were quality, particularly the first one.

I'll admit I haven't seen enough of Howard but I recall last year that Muscy played him on the RW at aami park and it was an epic failure.
Leave him in his preferred position this weekend and see how he goes. He did score against Wellington at the caketin when he was as a striker last year.

In this preseason, wasn't Howard running at either a goal or an assist every game he played? Remember him doing pretty well in his limited time on the park. There has to be enough seen in him for him to be the only recognised back up striker in the squad.

Also difficult for him to get a chance when he's behind the greatest striker the A-League has ever seen in Berisha - only time you don't play Berisha is if he's injured or away, which leaves about 10 minutes a season for any up and coming striker unfortunately. In an ideal world, you'd love to have an A2 league up and running to loan promising players like Howard out to cut their teeth in a cuthroat scenario - playing with youth players can only teach you so much, even if they are playing against men in the NPL.

Keen to see the other youngsters though.

As an aside, anyone who boo's Mahazi when he comes on is a c*nt. Sure he may not be great, but booing your own players is a step too far.

Not a stalker, Mahazi is a really easy name to google in this part of the world. Thoughts and best wishes are with Rashid and the family.

Berisha (wearing his familiar number 8) played 83 minutes this morning in a 1-2 loss to Iceland, being replaced by Bernard Berisha. Not even kidding. Seems he played in the hole as a second striker.

He played as the central AMF in a 5 man midfield, slightly further back than the wingers. He also hit the crossbar with a shot.

Berisha is our greatest striker ever. His talent and abilities are what seperates him from the pack
