Basically to organise this match, Port Adelaide had to find another AFL team who were willing to relocate one of their home games for this match. Although all the hype is about Port Adelaide in this match, they are the away team, and Gold Coast Suns are the home team. Port Adelaide paid the GCS to move this match to China.
However, the match drew very close before anyone from Port Adelaide actually realised that GCS's home kit is Red & Yellow (the colours of the Chinese national flag), and they've been trying (and failing) to come up with some way of ensuring that Gold Coast don't wear their home kit for the match.

After the crap we put up with from the FFA, it's enjoyable to see other codes also suffer from incompetence at times.
