+xWould we beat the average viewing figures for these two cities: Syd 32 Bris 23 I would think yes, definitely. No need for further analysis it seems...... ...but what were the averages for the A League on FTA last year? 60K? Seems not much left over for other cities if that be the case, no?

The answer to your question is no. The FTA average was not 60k. And the question we're all wandering about is why were you unbanned? Fuck off

+x+x+x+x+x+xThe BBL figures are a long way off from us but the AFL metro average was 260 000. Seriously the AFL average is that low? I thought it would have been far higher (considering how much the AFL fans crap on about their hegemony) No, not how it works. A random example. Sevens broadcast of AFLs round 10 Sunday game. Collingwood v Brisbane was telecast in Vic and Qld. West Coast and GWS was broadcast in NSW and WA Carlton and North Melbourne was broadcast into Vic and SA. If you are using those figures in a broadcast average, you add them up, divide by 3. However, each city only got 1 game. This is normal for Sunday games and Saturday games. The only games routinely telecast to the entire country are Fri and the the occasional Thursday game. Its why average ratings per game for AFL is almost meaningless as a comparison to other sports, as the AFL broadcast deal is so chopped up. A better method is to look at the average per game per city. Mel 277 Adel 115 Perth 96 Syd 32 Bris 23 Total 543K The TV rights are based on the 543K, not the 240K EAD Ms Eggball If the FFA got a deal that 4 games were broadcast, and each city got a telecast of one game, the game of most relevance to it, so the number of people watching in each city increased by 50%. bitch please So take teh AFL figures for the round and divide it by a lower number of cities to get a higher viewing figure because half the country at any one time doesn't give a shit what's happening in each of the games whatever If you cannot math, I cannot help you.

Anything over 60k on pay TV is pretty good.

Actually I just noticed we topped the pay TV ratings last Friday night with 89k, for Bris vs Adel. Strange that Adel vs MV would drop to 81k.

+xAnything over 60k on pay TV is pretty good. So anything below average is pretty good Gotta love the complete lack of any standard or benchmark by the metrics obsessed

Fox rating is almost identical to the averaging Fox rating for Derby. And youve gained 71,000 viewers on FTA metro + unknown regionals. Thats a win - not a resounding success - but a win.

From personal experience, problem is Ten is only doing a half arsed attempt at showing the HAL which isnt making it easy to watch. Last night was a classic example, when my son tried to find the HAL game at 7:30, he found the Rugby pre-game show and asked me if i was sure it was on as he couldnt find it. Kick off was at 7:50 yet at 7:45 there was no pre-game program (there was some generic sports show) and I was actually watching a fishing show while waiting for the game to start. My missus didnt understand why and assumed the game wasnt on. Once the game was finished, no post match, just smash it straight into a documentary on a serial killer.
Jeebus. I am a football tragic and I found it painful, what do you think the normal punter would feel. How I miss SBS!

It would be interesting to see what difference channel 10 swapping the channels each sport was shown on would have. ONE is a channel that you have to go searching for rather than just having sport thrown on your lap like channel 10.

The actions required to solve this problem are substantially different if this is a "nobody knows about it" problem vs a "nobody gives a shit about it" problem. And more puzzling, the "nobody can find it" problem
Attendances for both the Sydney and Melbourne derbies were lower than normal. Usually they get 40k plus, now both were about 35k. The AU v MV game often easily breaks 20k at Adelaide oval, but this time managed only 19k. City haven't even broken 10k this season
And ratings are poor, to understate how bad they are
Its obvious the A League isn't interesting. A complete lack of hype and large profile signings. No expansion. Just the same shit as we are used to. And now its affecting the highest level of the game
But yeah, lets just pretend nobody knows about. The A League is definitely heading in the right direction and a pretty good league. Its not an exaggeration to think hundreds of thousands of people will be tuning in each week if only they could find the channel. Well done FFA. Well done channel 10

BB is exactly right, the product at the moment is no good. Historic SBS ratings and even the ratings they still get for EPL matches show there is an audience for "quality" football and the silver bullet that Ten was meant to be has misfired. The product is stale & rebranding or repackaging wont fix it.

The product is the same it's always been, decent enough without being earth shattering, it's just become stale, same matchups, the usual sugar hit of derby games at the start of the season which have lost the shine they once had, it's a bit like watching re runs of 80/90s tv sitcoms now.
