Perth 2 - 3 Sydney - 7,742 crowd

Perth mustve missed the news about the an league expanding.

Mustve been the time difference. And it was probably raining.

Its not the chase.  Interest in the A-League is up again because of the expansion EOI.  ;)

That round has rescued the season from being the 3rd worst in history. Will be the 4th worst, but much closer to 3rd than 5th.

Adelaide, Brisbane and Newcastle have completed their home games.

Adelaide average: 9,830. +316 on last season, ranked 9th in HAL era.
Brisbane average: 9,093. -4800 on last season (!!!!!), ranked 12th in HAL era.
Newcastle average: 10,887. +2242 on last season, ranked 6th in HAL era.

Adelaide and Newcastle will likely be the only 2 clubs that record an increase this year.

So a negative start so far. Thats unfortunate but we are about to see huge huge increases in the other teams surely.

That's what many have been saying. The difference between last and first is 15%-20%

Newcastle failed to make the finals 7 years in a row in a league where is harder to miss out than to make it, yet they still managed to get 80% of the support than had they won 7 consecutive years

This model that offers fans of small teams a winning team every now and then instead of offering the league as a whole big teams, big matches and big players is flawed

Every team is different. Newcastle's crowds are fairly resilient for the simple fact it's the sleeping giant of Australian football.

No families. Bluebird please explain?

You are putting words in other people's mouths and then arguing against it

The attendance was what I said it would be. The usual attendance minus those who walked away. Wanderers have gotten 10k-11k all season. And don't forget this was the worst time slot

What we didn't see was a sharp decline in attendance as a result of the very much public announcement the RBB wasn't going to be there

No RBB, no league? Gimme a break!

Are you serious?

So we saw a soft decline and therefore you were right?

Are you serious?

Lets say there are 20 people in a restaurant and one announces he is walking away

If there are 19 people the next night there is no impact in him leaving on other customers
If there are 15 people the next night then obviously 4 others walked away because they didn't want to be there without him

Now based on the attendance figures it is fair to say the only people missing were those who decided to walk away, which is logical. What we didn't see is masses of people decide not to turn up as a result of the RBB not being there

This was a 2k increase on the week before and a 3k increase on the week before that. It is barely 800 short of the game against Newcastle the week before that

You have to go further back to see the 10k-11k games so the "soft decline" started long before the RBB walked away

The RBB boycotted a game they had no intention of going to. We saw additional numbers from previous weeks due to match importance and holidays. But on the balance of the season where numbers usually go up and down it is fair to say there was no impact aside from those who walked away

Nobody can reasonably conclude the RBB not being there kept people away
