The other day I noticed on Instagram that Christian Theohaurus post something along the lines "thanks mvfc i have had a great time" or something but then I noticed I couldn't like it so I refreshed and it was gone. Thought it might have been posted too early or something but had not important things to do. Now he's in Dusseldorf, looks as though it may be true and he's one of the 11 gone.

Wouldn't be surprised if he signs with Fortuna dusseldorf.

Not a bad few weeks for us really:
Beat Adelaide in the 89th minute with a bicycle kick. Beat Sydney with a 117th minute goal from a former SFC player who scored an own goal in the 95th minute to send it to extra time, putting a massive dent in SFC's best-evaaa claims. Then beat the Jets with a goal that should have been overruled to claim the Championship while at the same time knocking out City from the ACL.
Apart from missing out on the Premiership, it really doesn't get much better than that really haha

+xApart from missing out on the Premiership, it really doesn't get much better than that really haha have to say I disagree. so much went wrong this season. still finished miles behind Sydney. crowds way down. yeah we won a trophy and we'll enjoy it. but lets be serious... it was by far the least deserved out of the 4 toilet seats. we have a lot of work to do to get back where we want to be. But we also have a lot to look forward to next season.

Real character comes when you find a way to win when things are not going your way. There were a lot of things that did not click this season but come seasons end Victory were clearly the best team in the competition. A lot of people will not like it but KM (and the team) needs to be given some real credit for this season. Hopefully that realization brings back the Victory crowds next year.

Replacing Milligan with Antonis was a masterstroke - credit to the club for getting that one over the line, absolutely changed our midfield overnight.

Becoming champions with an offside goal in the grannnnnyyy and the outrage that followed took what ws a 3 or 4/10 season to 8.5/9 for me.

And to add I also agree with you, it was a poor season overall, which for me makes the last 3 weeks even better.

So, we have a big chunk of players off contract, and it looks like Theo is already gone, who should we be targeting for replacements? -PB

If Donachie leaves, I'd love to see us get Bujis.
Pending renewals, our best XI is shaping up nicely.
Thomas (?) Roux-Donachie-Williams-Brown ?- Antonis Kosta - Troisi - George (?) Bes
Outside of resigning some of the above, a partner for Antonis is the biggest thing we need to address. Someone who will just sit and distribute freeing him up to play box-box is vital.
We need to keep Kenny, I think he could genuinely challenge Bes for a starting position with a full pre-season under his belt. Simiarly Hope, Nigro and Waring should get new deals.
Another winger is also essential, with Ingham our only back up (i'd imagine Austin gets released)
Similarly a back up to Antonis and his partner will be needed.

Deng is still contracted isn't he?
I don't think he starts next season over any of the above players. He doesn't add the natural width that we need from a full back, hence why we're bringing in Roux.
I think Donachie right now is a better central defender, and that's the spot I see him realistically challenging for.
He'll get plenty of games as our first choice back up in nearly every defensive position, especially with ACL as well.

Thought he was best on field in the grand final (apart from Thomas). He improved so much I would have him as a starter. So strong and athletic. He could shut down Adrian with speed. Will only get better too.

Your trophy was undeserved. Of all the trophies in the A League history this one is probably the most deserved. MV despite so many setbacks during the season forged themselves into the strongest team in the league. There is a reason why no other team has won from outside the top 2. You have to be significantly better than the other teams to do it from 4th. Sure a bit of luck does not hurt but remember for 100+ years we have had no VAR (and effectively we had no VAR this grand final too).

Even with Roux and Browns eventual arrival, I feel he's done more regardless of their experience in the wing-back roles.

How about Deng and Donachie at CB as first choice, and give Williams a try at CDM next to Antonis?
