Australian Swimming Championships:
Elija Winnington will have shocked his rivals with a sizzling 400free swim on the opening nite of the nationals in Adelaide. The towering 18 year old swam a time that would have won him all Olympic 400m finals bar two.. our own Ian Thorpe  and the German Paul Biederman during the super suit era. His 3.44.68 ranks him the third fastest for this year and now a serious chance to place at the worlds.

King Kyle is back.  Kyle Chalmers who was unsure about his career a few short months ago has pulled out an unbelievable 47.48 100free on night 2 of the Nationals. So fast was the time it would have beaten his gold medal-winning time from the 2016 Rio Olympic Games and ranks him numero uno for this year.

In other news rising breastroker Matthew Wilson has powered his way to the second fastest this year and fastest ever Australian 200m and now looks a distinct chance to medal at the worlds.

Distance queen Ariarne Titmus  has blitzed the field in a time of 1:54.30 to win the 200free. This is on top of her 800free and 4x100 relay golds earlier in the meet. There is no stopping Ariarne with her producing the year's fastest 400free on the penultimate nite of the nationals. The Tasmania flyer is now a very real chance to knock Ledecky off her perch in Tokyo in this event.

Adelaide’s own Olympic champion Kyle Chalmers (Marion) powered his way through the Men’s 50m Freestyle in a personal best time of 22.07 to claim his fourth gold medal of the meet on the final nite of the national championships.

All round specialist Calypso Sheridan (QLD) rounded off an excellent meet by bringing home gold in the Women's 200IM after taking silver in the 400IM and 200Back.
