just 7 off that over there
7 overs left
India just a dozen runs behind where they would want to be!

2 things have put England ahead at this stage of the game
1. Poor fielding cost them about 20 2. A conservative first 10 overs had them 1/27 after 10 maybe 15 behind where they needed

Great, measured knock from Dhoni to get India just 32 runs behind at the end of Day One. In a strong position for tomorrow just 5 wickets down.

Just looking at the replay, Pant scored one hell of a hook for a boundary off a Wood 149kph thunderbolt that reared off a decent length!

Against Sri lanka, I thought Shannon Gabriel looked a little out of rhythm.
He did send a few down at 150 kph though.

My better half just said that if Bangla beat India, then England will be knocked out of the WC.
At this stage, 34 overs, it almost looks impossible.

India at 2-221 from 36 overs look like they are in a very strong position.

I don’t like a lot of the front foot hooking and pulling from Pant.
Much prefer these shots off the back foot.

bangladesh have taken the game deepish and kept the run rate under control here. They have a slim chance

+xI don’t like a lot of the front foot hooking and pulling from Pant. Much prefer these shots off the back foot. I was a front foot puller I always thought it was a safer shot than the cut shot against the short wide deliveries. I would front foot pull through the covers or mid off/on rather and try and drag it onto the legside (which increases the risk in the shot!)

probably a touch too many for the kiwis but we will see
they havent looked like scoring 300 all tournament
The toss today might have been huge if speculation about the pitch slowing up is correct. It could be worth 50 or so runs
If its a new ball pitch the kiwis should go a little harder at first

England like their back of a length bowling
would be a disaster against a player like ponting who loves pulling from that length
