+xIs VAR just in the final? Whole tournament. What I still don't understand about the Saudi-Thailand game is why the ref didn't do an on-field review for a subjective penalty decision. The bloke in the booth (apparently Beath) just told him it was a pen. Maybe I've missing something.
By now, American Samoa must have realised that Australias 22-0 win over Tonga two days earlier was no fluke.

Ah I see, and they let that blatantly obvious matchwinning Saudi dive against Japan through too, no wonder they got the final.

Korea U-23 boss Kim Hak-bum on 2-0 win over Australia: "We were prepared to play 120 minutes, but I expected Australia to run out of gas in the second half and planned for that accordingly. Their games showed that they fatigue quickly in the second half. We had to exploit that."
More from Kim Hak-bum on win over Australia: "It's not just a matter of running more than the opposition for us. We analyzed Australia based on data. We're superior in terms of techniques, speed and power. I expected Australia to fatigue fairly quickly and I was right."
Kim Hak-bum on if he was surprised to see Australia leave out their regular starters: "We would've actually played even better if they deployed a lineup that we expected from them. Many of the Aussie players who didn't start today played 120 minutes in the quarter-final."
Kim Hak-bum on Oh Se-hun's standout performance: "I instructed him to initiate direct duels against their No. 4 (Dylan Ryan). Se-hun is a competitive player. Their No. 4 and No. 6 (Tass Mourdoukoutas) couldn't beat him in the air. We were right to use that to our advantage." https://twitter.com/realstevescores/status/1220038284824342529

Logical and to the point. Beats Arnie's arrogance. Know your level and you'll have a refreshing sense of clarity around what needs to improve. I suspect that we aren't going to be properly competitive in these Asian tournaments (or beyond) until all A-League clubs and large numbers of NPL clubs have been running fully-professional academies for a generation. A long way to go, especially when one considers how long ago countries like Japan and Korea Republic laid these foundations.

i kinda suspected once they flashed their technical ability, it was all over. makes me depressed knowing we'll never be as good as them, technically. our culture prevents this

Happy with all of that except I’d prefer Genreau in for Bouman.

If you missed it, Daggers 'fairly' contested a high ball with their keeper and won - scoring - but keeper went to ground and awarded a freekick.

Uzbeks superior in every aspect so far. Technically way ahead of us. One sided half. Lucky they don't know how to finish. Hopefully we get them on fitness.

God we look bog average. It's just so flat. We get the ball look to go wide and usually that is the end of it. No ability to hold onto the ball whatsoever. No ability to involve our front three effectively either.
What on earth was Arnie thinking when selecting this squad sans any creative players? Baffles the mind.
Doubt we'll hold on much longer, only a matter of time before Uzbekistan sting us.

Mourdoukoutas has been seriously killing us with his passes straight to the opposition.

Bouman is terrible. Playing reserve football for a second division Dutch side. How he makes the squad over Silvera, Mo Adam or Thurgate is baffling.
