If we are allowed to change our ACL squad, I would replace Poulsen and Basha with Rojas and Hoogland. Hoogland because we need every defensive player we can get. And players like Hope, Lesiotis and Lauton have been able to do jobs for us.

I more meant I can't recall other situations where the player really wanted to go and we didn't make it work. It was fair enough to keep him and IIRC we ended up winning trophies that very season?

Fact checked myself...think it was the season after that we won the double.

Agree with getting Rojas in there for Poulsen 100% but don't think we can trust Hoogland to actually be fit and available.

Yep we can make up to eight changes for the group stage up to seven days before our first group stage game (ie: Tuesday 4th) which include five players for any reason, and three players for medical reasons. Page 39 if you're really interested: https://www.the-afc.com/afc/documents/PDFFiles/afc-champions-league-2020-competition-regulations

I would say if there's a chance of Hoogland coming good we should get him in due to our threadbare defence as well as Rojas in of course for Basha and Poulson. This will mean we'll need to see something from Hope, Lesiostis and/or Lauton alongside Broxham in midfield, so Carlos should put more minutes into them instead of the journeymen.

The big question is if we stick with 3 at the back, and will we keep that formation in the league?

AFC Statement on AFC Champions League Group Stage matches
Wednesday, January 29, 2020
Kuala Lumpur: After close consultation with the Chinese Football Association (CFA), the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) can confirm that the home matches of the Chinese clubs in the AFC Champions League Group Stage on Match Day (MD) 1, 2 and 3 will be rescheduled to be played as away matches by swapping the match order with opponent clubs.
In the meantime, the AFC will closely monitor the situation before deciding further on the home matches of Chinese clubs on MD4, 5 and 6.
The decision, which was also made in conjunction with the competing clubs from the respective groups, is a precautionary measure to ensure the safety and well-being of all participating players and teams in view of the current coronavirus outbreak in the People’s Republic of China.

https://www.the-afc.com/competitions/afc-champions-league/latest/news/afc-statement-on-afc-champions-league-group-stage-matches

Victory swapping MD3 and 4 with Beijing. Perth and Sydney not directly affected.

At least we can now be reasonably confident of reaching the half way point of the group stage with nine points: home against Chiang Rai, away against Seoul (two weeks until their season starts and they've only won four of their last 21 K-League games) and Beijing at home early in their season.

Love your confidence, 9 points from those 3 matches would be extraordinary!

Walking tall after the Kashima away win!

I really think it's achievable though, all respect to Chiang Rai but we should have them covered at home, and have a look at Seoul's record, very average results for the last half of last season, and they've kept the same coach. Chinese teams never travel well, and with Beijing's interrupted preseason we could well get those nine points.

Qualification into the ACL group stages presents the club with a great opportunity to get members back onside after a terrible season.
Free entry to the 3 ACL matches for members like for the Bali match.
This would really help the club long term as a lot of members will not be resigning after this season unless the club takes proactive action to win them back.
It would not cost the club much in lost revenue as these mid week games will be poorly attended.

Full  trophy cabinet (but yours looks a bit empty) !

good post and agree totally. the club has a lot of work to do to win the members back. I can only speculate at the type of stuff people would have put in the annual members survey.

Speaking of the members survey, can anyone access theirs? The link isn’t working for me.

Not sure how much more it can be said. Ticketing prices are dictated by stadia. Not the club's. ROI is the key. This information is provided directly from a City official involved in the ticketing process.

Absolute bullshit. if thats the case, how was Victory allowed to provide members with free entry for the ACL qualifier against Bali United?

Its certainly not the case at Kardinia Park with the AFL and Geelong Cats (2018). ticketek take a minimum fee and then a percentage or every ticket sold after that, the AFL would take a percentage or every ticket sold and then Cats would set their price above that, obviously taking into account paying the trust and all the other things. But id assume that's how most Major stadiums would run.
It really wouldn't be hard to allow members free after the shit season.

Not sure how you can call bullshit then proceed to ask such a question. Especially not knowing the conditions of the relationship between the clubs and stadia. And please note I said dictated, not necessarily controlled 100% though. It would appear you don't have answers to much about this topic however want to shoot down any opinions other than your own.

Gallifuoco to be the latest returnee? https://twitter.com/FOXFOOTBALL/status/1223154896687353856

Would be behind Carrigan in the pecking order if so, but it wouldn't be awful to have him as cover on the most minimum scoop of chips.

Sagan Tosu in Japan want Thomas apparently: https://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/football/a-league/teams/victory/victory-signs-former-player-to-bolster-squad-for-asian-champions-league-campaign/news-story/fcac1f25c7284fe299bb480d31754233

8 weeks out for Robbie FFS.

Robbie Kruse injury update
Melbourne Victory can advise that Robbie Kruse sustained a right hamstring tendon injury in Friday night’s Round 18 match against Melbourne City at AAMI Park.
This is a new injury for Kruse and the club would like to clarify it is the opposite hamstring to the one he injured earlier in the season.
Barring any setbacks during his recovery, it is expected Kruse will be available for selection in the next 6-8 weeks.
