Her rationale was that rather than try and change a culture with a systemic problem it was easier to start from scratch and hire people that suited the new role and culture they were trying to establish. Something like that may have be worth considering. If true that mayor should get an instant dismissal herself. That's a disgraceful move to sack every single police officer and bring in new people.

Those movements were successful because fought for legitimate causes and won mainstream support, movements like; emancipation from slaves, women’s suffrage, black civil rights, gay rights. Now they fight for non binary toilet blocks and defunding police departments, no wonder the “awful regressive governments” are in charge. Eh, Rusty.. it's a legitimate cause. How it's being acted upon, well... that's an entirely different matter. So you can’t tell me that BLM, who falsely and egregiously exaggerate the role of police in killing blacks, and that the solution is to defund police departments and end systemic racism, is a legitimate cause. Like the #metoo movement it will eventually run out of steam and replaced by whatever new fashionable cause replaces it. Next time it will be vegans, then transvestites, then non binaries, than disabled folk, then obese people etc. There are about 8 police forces in Australia. In the US there are more than 18000. 'Defunding the police' doesn't mean getting rid of the police force in totality it means employing other more suitable people for various call outs. IE: A pyschologist might go out to a domestic with a police officer rather than the SWAT team arriving. Nobody is calling for the police in America to stop being a thing. You talk about costs. How much do you think it costs to put 4 policeman on trial and then incarcerate one, two, three or all of them? Her rationale was that rather than try and change a culture with a systemic problem it was easier to start from scratch and hire people that suited the new role and culture they were trying to establish. Something like that may have be worth considering. If true that mayor should get an instant dismissal herself. That's a disgraceful move to sack every single police officer and bring in new people. Apparently it's too late to get on the ballot in a bunch of states adding up to 102 Electoral College votes, making it virtually impossible to win.
Some analysis is that it's a ploy to split the vote in Michigan with Biden and hand it to Trump, but given that Kanye was a vocal Trumpkin it would make sense to me that he'd take more votes off Trump, but I don't follow US politics closely.
