+x+xHopefully Mells, Akbari or a youth team mid take the opportunity that is presented and cement themselves a spot in the starting XI. Moon would certainly be familiar with the potential of O'Neil's replacement. If Holloway is fit (I know, that’s unlikely) and can start that allows Inman, who we’re playing at 9, to drop back in to the 5 (assuming we stick to 3-5-2) DWH could also start up top, he will probably link better with Scott MCD than he did with ROD. The bigger issue is whether we’ve lost Inman to India in which case we have a bit of a midfield crisis on our hands. Inman not going anywhere just yet...

Davies been given a 1 year deal as head coach (end of this season and then the following season). Thought he was given a chance last year and failed?

Wow.If someone had said Davies was the new coach at the begining of last season there would have been a mutiny. A year later presumably,he is now a better coach? Can we call this a Covid appointment, where we now become the CCM of the North until Covid has passed?

1. Coach cleans out squad. 2. Coach leaves 3. New coach hired but can’t be judged till he has his own squad 4. New coach cleans out squad 5. Coach leaves 6. Rinse and repeat

Thought young Australian coach in the UK for 15/20 years had a shot Anthony Limbrick

Extract from Jamie Young article: "Darren Davies and Warren Moon have been placed in charge of Brisbane following Fowler's exit. Young said the pair have tried to continue the Englishman's plans, rather than rewrite the copybook mid-season"
Sticking to Robbie's plan is a relief to me - I was wondering which way we were going to go. Hopefully 'sounds like Robbie' will be enough continuity to re-generate our momentum even if it does not continue our growth as much as it would have in the no-covid alternate reality.
When I wear their colours, I am the club.

Hopefully they can execute Fowler's game plans and game management as well as Fowler did. I don't know how Co-Managers will work. It's a strange decision if it ends up being permanent.

+xRoar signing up AIA Insurance as sleeve sponsor today - how does that happen 👏👏👏 You sign a worldwide recognised person as head coach who produces an effective and watchable product. Also helps when you are the best club in the land.

I didnt know he was signed before? I presume he is an Aussie, not a visa player. In any event was previously nominated for POTY in the Qld NPL,so good that he is given an opportunity. A replacement for AON?

Davies as head coach and Moon his assistant. Davies. a welshman, might do a Carl Robinson and be very effective given enough time, that being next season.

A replacement for AON? He’s ex-Academy. I guess they’re filling the midfield. Rumour they’re chasing a 6 to fill the hole left by AON/Pepper looking forward someone with more experience.

Also helps when you are the best club in the land. You mean Darren Davies right?? ;) I would go so far as to say we shone under Robbie and that was recognised outside the a-league as a marketable quantity - battling cellar dwellers with walk in goals become contenders under God is no small value (thus AIA). Under Darren Davies we have no identity as a team yet and personally I have no idea how we are going to go. Keen as ever of course. How much of the squad did Davies put together first time round? I can't remember but I didn't think he had much involvement. How much did he have this time round? I don't think he had more than a word in Fowler/Grant's ears. Maybe his strength has not been seen yet because he has been working with someone else's tools and trying to continue someone else's vision. Not likely to change much in that regard over the next year. Might be hard for him to show his own vision and playing style. Certainly did not stand out last time so the load is well on him to prove something now. Working under Robbie and with Grant may have helped his development too more than working under/with the Aloisi style and vision.
When I wear their colours, I am the club.

Our team this season has been non-flashy and lower profile (yes, some will say that sums up the team) and he seems to fit that mould. Capable player with a specific function in a well co-ordinated structure exceeding the sum of the parts. Question is how quickly he would fit in and build the trust we really need for our system to work well.
