Isnt it refreshing to see a politician hold his supporters accountable, unlike the macabre alliance between antifa, blm and  the Democrats?

What a take.   Hahaha.

He only came out with all that because he had a good chance of being removed from office prior to him trying to pardon himself which, BTW, will be the next chapter of this lunacy.

He can run.  That's democracy.  Personally I reckon it'll be Ivanka or DJT that'll have a crack.  (With Trump driving from behind the scenes.)

The crazy thing is that the republicans are beholden to him thinking he is a positive for them.

Basically for the Dems Obama got a large turnout for his first term, he lost a bit in the second term, and Hillary trod water in 2016 all while the population grew 19 million. For the Republicans they increased their vote by slightly each time until Trump was elected.

Rough figures only
2008 304 Mill pop
D 69 Mill
R 60 Mill

2012 314 Mill pop
D 66 Mill
R 61 Mill

2016 323 Mill pop
D 66 Mill
R 63 Mill

Then after seeing his first term Trump added 11 million to the Republican vote and 15 million to the Democrat vote. (Probably more when you consider that the black vote fell away from Hillary and returned for Biden)

2020 331Mill pop
D 81Mill
R 74Mill

Lol at trump throwing his supporters under the bus.

They were never anything more than a means for him to fulfil his sycophantic fantasy. Now that he realises it's over he cracks the whip at them for the first time in his presidency.

He didnt throw his supporters under the bus, just those who stormed the capitol and engaged in violence. Many other conservatives and Republicans also strongly condemned the violent actors and resolved to upheld the democratic values of America. It’s just a shame that Democrats and the left fail to do the same whenever violent leftists bash, abuse, harass, spit on regular people, destroy businesses and wilfully destroy public property. I guess that’s because one sides believes, perhaps naively, that those democratic values still exist, while the other side turfed them long ago.

Aides said the video was also meant to slow the mass exodus of staffers and ward off potential legal trouble for Trump once he leaves office; White House counsel Pat Cipollone has repeatedly warned the President that he could be deemed responsible for inciting Wednesday's violence.

An unarmed protester has been shot by security forces at a peaceful protest, but I highly doubt the media reports will state this fact.

A Police officer who was defending the capitol died today from injures he sustained after being hit in the head with a fire extinguisher.

Thought I'd go back to and fire this "peaceful" comment just so everybody remembers you said this.

Yeah, good call.
I retract my statement about it being a peaceful protest.
In the end, it pretty much ended up the same as a BLM or Antifa riot, although without the racism or fascism promoted by those groups.

Good on you for correcting your position when more information comes at hand.

As for the incident, I'm still perplexed as to police involvement/enablement. There are videos showing them letting them in/taking photos etc. But at the same time 5 people have died from this (so clearly violent and descended into rioting).

Because what do you do when you're seriously outnumbered?  They're copping a lot of shit for letting them in and taking selfies etc but if you have no hope of holding them back maybe you're better off trying to minimise the damage.

I retract my statement about it being a peaceful protest.
In the end, it pretty much ended up the same as a BLM or Antifa riot, although without the racism or fascism promoted by those groups.

Police officers and citizens have been killed at BLM, antifa and leftard riots, and they were (under) reported in the media organisers, commentators and politicians as “mostly peaceful”, usually with a sympathetic tone.

Its a clear double standard. When rioters stormed the capitol, the media and politicians (sadly including some republicans) used the actions of a few to tarnish all Trump supporters, the vast majority who were protesting peacefully and lawfully. However when BLM, antifa activists assaulted, harassed and spat on people, rioted, looted, stole millions in stock, destroyed thousands of businesses and set fires to public buildings, the media and politicians were very quick to defend the majority of protesters, and offer a tepid rebuke to the violent mob (after all they are fighting against racism and fascism arnet they?)

Its a clear as day double standard. No one gives a shit when a Republican is a target of violence or a hate crime, or someones business burns to the ground, but god forbid should a few Trump supporters do the wrong thing and it will be plastered across the front pages of every leading newspaper in the world.

Encouraged, cajoled, abetted and aided by Trump at his rally to storm the literal capitol of the republic (the first time in 152 years) is why it's the front page of every newspaper in the world.
