Feel sorry for Olyroos boys, geez we haven't qualified since 2008 and this happens.

Hopefully FIFA could organise a u21 tournament later in the year as its very harsh on all players that have qualified for their respective countries.

Lol feel for Japan it cost them 1bn to suspend it for a year

To cancel it completely would hurt a hell of a let more then that!!

lol

Well India did send a test team AND we have sort of bungled our way to almost being ready to host the Australian open.... it won't be pretty but it is  conceivable that Tokyo could pull it off although it will be a huge reduction in participating nations I feel.

You do realise the selection of honours is not by any politicians but by representatives from all walks of life, across the political spectrum including those from Chairman Dans the People’s Socialist Republic of Victoria?

You won't believe this Enzo but I'm with you on this.  What her views are irrelevant.  Unless she received them for services to the homosexual community which she didn't.

What next?  Vetting of all recipients views lest someone be offended?  Besides all of that the media ask her about this knowing that she'll respond in a way that will create headlines.  Stop asking and you won't get her opinion.

Would love to see a journo hound a muslim recipient of an AO about their views on homosexuality.  Watch the SJW's lose their minds if that happened.

She wasn’t asked. She penned a letter off her own back to the paper. But otherwise I kinda agree but fuck all these old stubborn racist bigoted sexist humans still holding high positions in society. Yeah and my dad aha

I am not a leftie - I am a centrist as is most of the country. I have no problem with either the LNP or ALP being in power as they represent the vast majority of Australians. What I do take issue with is Morrison's inability to lead, his constant ducking and weaving if there is a problem, his only turning up for good announcements, his shutdown of debate, his inability to take responsibility for anything even when they are federal responsibilities, taking sports to task for being political while politicizing sport for his own ends. If you don't think Court's upgrade is another example of this then you are kidding yourself.

Once again - this is not an attack on Margaret Court. She has always had her own views and whatever they are they should not impact on her contribution to tennis - the award is merited - just mistimed. Another example is Sir Donald Bradman who was a member of a group that planned to kidnap the premier. I'm sure that was not what he was knighted for.

My argument is politicization of a process that should be a unifying process were we celebrate each others achievements. Should she refuse the award because of everyone knocking back theirs? - Definitely not!! Should the GG look at rescinding it?  Definitely not!!

Its the impracticality of a 14 day quarantine period for a midweek game. Our overseas stars will not come back for it

Nor would the opposition team's players, you would assume. And the AFC would probably take their side in any dispute.

I think either the quarantine would be waived, with international arrivals coming in on a fly-in/fly-out basis and essentially placed in an airtight bubble while in the country, or the games will have to take place on neutral soil.

Why?  Because as exceptional as that was in 1978, the fact that she is still at the top of that list makes it even more remarkable.

As for being "divisive" I don't find it "divisive" at all to recognize her sporting achievements. Besides most of these awards are dished out to people for just doing their jobs, at least she has talent.

it seems the only time things are not "divisive" is when someone agrees with what those on the regressive side of politics want.  Her award is being made "divisive" by them.

You'll get your chance to vote ScoMo and have him replaced by ...um..what's his name

Margaret Court got her upgrade for tennis. I have no problem that she gets the award - she has won the most grand slams of any one person. However, it should have been awarded in 1978 the year after she famished playing tennis. There is no justification for it now. Her views on other matters are no different than other people have said that have not got any award. So why upgrade her 'tennis' award now.

The fact that it awarded now is purely another divisive action by Morrison by using her views to hide the fact that he has had no plan except to rort everything in sight. No plan for quarantine, no plan for aged care, no plan for bushfires, no plan for Covid response.

He has been dragged kicking and screaming to action when he has made any action - whether by Premiers of both sides of politics or by other advocates. He wanted to be leader - I am past waiting for him to start.

Why?  Because as exceptional as that was in 1978, the fact that she is still at the top of that list makes it even more remarkable.

You're wrong. The Lefties are the ones creating the fight by their whining and childish acts like handing back an award (ABC's indoctrinated Kerry O'Brien). Chairman Dan has even gone a step further with his bitching when he should mind his own business and concentrate on repenting the 800 deaths under his leadership.

Basic supply & demand. Demand is overwhelming exceeding supply. There are no where near enough facilities manufacturing vaccines at the volumes the world needs. Most (if not all) facilities are already falling behind on production. Then there is the issue of actually getting people vaccinated, but that is a whole other multifaceted issue in itself.

Would have thought they'd carve out an exemption for athletes etc to jump the queue.  Not that I want that to happen.  Just thought that's what they'd do.

The TV rights for the Olympics will mean it will go ahead - with or without crowds.

Maybe we can host the Olympics at Lakeside, we already have a running track :)

In fact, quarantine will almost certainly still be in place in July, so the two home WCQs in July will probably also have to be played by a local squad anyway, while our overseas based Socceroos go to the Copa.

There, sorted.

If the FFA had the WCQs played by local squads there would be no justification whatsoever to pull out of the Copa while our overseas players who would be available to play in it sit at home on the couch.

We could even temporarily hire a South American coach who knows the lay of the land to take care of the squad at the Copa while Arnie focuses on the WCQs.

Why would the government let the other team's players into the country but not ours?

CSL started manufacturing the Oxford vaccine on 9 Nov 2020.

Exactly! Why not back in April, when it was cleared for human trials?

If it was considered an acceptable risk to put the vaccine into 1077 human beings (sans the control group) beginning on April 23rd, surely risking couple of million taxpayer bucks on getting production up and running at that time is nothing in comparison, considering the potential upside.

I still don't understand why Scomo didn't start local production months ago though. The risk of having to throw all the doses out if it didn't pass certification was nothing compared to the reward we could have had for having tens of millions of doses ready to go in advance for ourselves and our neighbours.

CSL started manufacturing the Oxford vaccine on 9 Nov 2020.
