You all realise Scottish football is shit right? The only reason Celtic can compete, sorry I mean get knocked out first round in the Euros is the fact that they have a duopoly on the sport in Scotland with no competition and have the cash to buy international players. 50 Aussie players could make the Celtic squad at least. It's a Mickey Mouse league.

He was said in an interview their transfer priorities were a CB, RB, and L/RW. Seems like Brighton will take Edouard once the ben white money is through so Im guessing they will probably look at a striker. On the wings they've picked up Abada - and Furuhashi has landed in london for quarantine but still needs to do a medical In CB and Starfelt has or is coming soon. Also the 2 young guys Shaw(?) as a fullback and Urhoghide in CB. My question - what Australian's do you think they are likely to pick up if any?? I honestly dont think Ange will even be looking our way for the moment. But I can think of a few who who would be decent pick ups. Limitations - they need to be young prospects with onsell worth with NT caps for UK visa rules. Or they need to be well established snr players that can walk into the first 11 - which would be mooy or ryan and so there is no one else really that fits this. 3 signings for celtic that I can see being decent and fitting Ange's style of play. -Atkinson in RB but he will need to get capped for the NT first which is pretty likely. Whilst I'm glad that you rate Australian players, I honestly don't think that any of the highlighted players are good enough to be playing for Celtic. PSV fans I talk to rate Behich and Sainsbury as two of the worst players that they've had in recent years [1 fan went as far to say that Behich is the worst player he's ever seen play for PSV], whilst I don't think that Good's body could handle the type of schedule that Celtic has without the constant breakdowns he had during his time at Newcastle. On the other players mentioned, I think Atkinson needs another year or two of regular football at Melb. City before he's ready to make the jump imo, while I also don't really rate Grant that highly. Admittedly, I don't see as much of him as some of the forum regulars, so maybe I'm missing something. I think he's got a big engine and a good work rate, but I don't think he has the technical skills required to have a successful European career. Smith's in a good spot at Seattle, so it'd be foolish for him to consider leaving, and Luongo has only played 43 games from a possible 103 games since signing for Sheffield Wednesday, which suggests he's either injury prone or out of favour: not good enough to earn a move again. Are you actually familiar with Celtics players? Again, the players i mention are better than the current incumbents. Not saying any of those transfers will ever happen but just saying those players are better than the incumbents. Nothing in above you said disproved that None of the players you mentioned IMHO are anywhere near good enough to be playing for Celtic, and would also have a challenge displacing those already there and ahead of them.

I’ll add my two bob’s worth to this conversation although without the emotion or bias either way, neither thinking Scottish football is shit nor over-rating the A-League or Socceroos. Having followed Celtic reasonably closely since the days of Viduka and the Socceroos obsessively since about 1978, I reckon these Aussies would be good additions to the current Celtic squad, most importantly based on what Celtic currently need and the ability/adaptability for the older two and ability/potential for the younger two: Ryan, Souttar, Atkinson and Mooy. No other Aussie would be a good fit right now. That’s a different question to whether they are good enough or better than what’s there.

Look I think maybe some of the Australian names being mentioned as good enough for Celtic are pretty optimistic. I for e.g. love Ryan Grant to bits but I think he has technical limitations and would be found out big time. But Souttar is a mid table championship regular, in fact he is excelling in that current tier. No offence Celtic fans but that's kind of where you are at these days. Mentioning sainsbury and Bechich at PSV as some sort of litmus test to gauge who could cut it at Celtic. Are you seriously comparing Celtic or Rangers to PSV/Ajax? There is no comparison.

I think he's got a big engine and a good work rate, but I don't think he has the technical skills required to have a successful European career. Smith's in a good spot at Seattle, so it'd be foolish for him to consider leaving, and Luongo has only played 43 games from a possible 103 games since signing for Sheffield Wednesday, which suggests he's either injury prone or out of favour: not good enough to earn a move again. 10 games [2 of which were CL games] in 2 seasons for PSV :laugh: Your standards are either extremely low, or you overrate Australian talent tremendously. You say I was being snobbish in a previous post, but in all honesty, I was just being realistic. It's not Ange's job to take Australian players to any of his clubs abroad, and by doing so, he'd bring even more pressure onto himself in the process. A player like Mooy would be accepted, as he is a proven performer in the EPL, and a good player to boot. But Rhyan Grant: no chance. Remember when Matt McKay went from the Roar to Rangers... and stunk the joint up whilst there? The AL is the ceiling for a lad like Grant, and there's nothing wrong with that at all.
Whilst I do hope that we see more Australian players abroad in the future, there's a serious mentality issue with a lot of them, which more often than not sees them back in the AL within a season of heading overseas. To have a career abroad [in any profession] takes a lot of guts and sacrifices, and a lot of the Australian players seem happy enough to chill in the AL playing 30 or so games [tops] a year on a comfortable enough wage.

I’ll add my two bob’s worth to this conversation although without the emotion or bias either way, neither thinking Scottish football is shit nor over-rating the A-League or Socceroos. Having followed Celtic reasonably closely since the days of Viduka and the Socceroos obsessively since about 1978, I reckon these Aussies would be good additions to the current Celtic squad, most importantly based on what Celtic currently need and the ability/adaptability for the older two and ability/potential for the younger two: Ryan, Souttar, Atkinson and Mooy. No other Aussie would be a good fit right now. That’s a different question to whether they are good enough or better than what’s there. Sottar has already been at Celtic and never made it. Andrew Robertson didn't make it at Celtic, either. Did he now? Robertson is lucky he plays for Liverpool with all the good players around him, because without them he ain’t that great. Watched him for Scotland many a time and he has been shite to say the least.

He was said in an interview their transfer priorities were a CB, RB, and L/RW. Seems like Brighton will take Edouard once the ben white money is through so Im guessing they will probably look at a striker. On the wings they've picked up Abada - and Furuhashi has landed in london for quarantine but still needs to do a medical In CB and Starfelt has or is coming soon. Also the 2 young guys Shaw(?) as a fullback and Urhoghide in CB. My question - what Australian's do you think they are likely to pick up if any?? I honestly dont think Ange will even be looking our way for the moment. But I can think of a few who who would be decent pick ups. Limitations - they need to be young prospects with onsell worth with NT caps for UK visa rules. Or they need to be well established snr players that can walk into the first 11 - which would be mooy or ryan and so there is no one else really that fits this. 3 signings for celtic that I can see being decent and fitting Ange's style of play. -Atkinson in RB but he will need to get capped for the NT first which is pretty likely. He has decent onsell value. -Sainsbury in CB - I would say Degenek, but his passing is a bit suspect at times and might not fit Ange's style. Also he was dropped from Ange's yokohama. Maybe Curtis Good now he is getting games under his belt without the injuries. -Rukavytsya up front - but in writing this I've just seen he has signed for Perth. Doesn't really fit the limitations, but he would be a decent cheap signing that could have been a solid goal scoring backup striker. Celtic would be well aware of him having shown they scout the Israeli league. There's still talk of mooy going to us. Real real shame Ryan didn't come as he would be certain starter and fit anges system perfectly bringing his best football out. In terms of other players either Atkinson or Grant would both be an upgrade on Ralston. Smith or Behich on the left too would be upgrade on Taylor and suit the style better. Good or Sainsbury as ball playing center backs, mass loungo as a backup number 8. Other than those I cant see too many realistic options. Whilst I'm glad that you rate Australian players, I honestly don't think that any of the highlighted players are good enough to be playing for Celtic. PSV fans I talk to rate Behich and Sainsbury as two of the worst players that they've had in recent years [1 fan went as far to say that Behich is the worst player he's ever seen play for PSV], whilst I don't think that Good's body could handle the type of schedule that Celtic has without the constant breakdowns he had during his time at Newcastle. On the other players mentioned, I think Atkinson needs another year or two of regular football at Melb. City before he's ready to make the jump imo, while I also don't really rate Grant that highly. Admittedly, I don't see as much of him as some of the forum regulars, so maybe I'm missing something. I think he's got a big engine and a good work rate, but I don't think he has the technical skills required to have a successful European career. Smith's in a good spot at Seattle, so it'd be foolish for him to consider leaving, and Luongo has only played 43 games from a possible 103 games since signing for Sheffield Wednesday, which suggests he's either injury prone or out of favour: not good enough to earn a move again. Are you actually familiar with Celtics players? Again, the players i mention are better than the current incumbents. Not saying any of those transfers will ever happen but just saying those players are better than the incumbents. Nothing in above you said disproved that None of the players you mentioned IMHO are anywhere near good enough to be playing for Celtic, and would also have a challenge displacing those already there and ahead of them.

It's not Ange's job to take Australian players to any of his clubs abroad, and by doing so, he'd bring even more pressure onto himself in the process. A player like Mooy would be accepted, as he is a proven performer in the EPL, and a good player to boot. But Rhyan Grant: no chance. Whilst I do hope that we see more Australian players abroad in the future, there's a serious mentality issue with a lot of them, which more often than not sees them back in the AL within a season of heading overseas. To have a career abroad [in any profession] takes a lot of guts and sacrifices, and a lot of the Australian players seem happy enough to chill in the AL playing 30 or so games [tops] a year on a comfortable enough wage. 1. He played 1 season, left after the first couple of matches in the 2nd. So lets not misconstrue the facts to support your argument. 2. 10 matches in a season for a club the standing of PSV is a huge achievement for an Australian footballer, few of which have reached the same level in the last yrs. We all speak about Kruse at leverkusen in 2013 but he only played about the same number of games albeit admittedly leverkusen at that time is slight stepup from PSV of 2018/19 but only slight. PSV is a level or 2 above celtic so on that evidence we can conclude that the backup center back for PSV (he was one of the 2 backups for the CB's) would get plenty of games for the current cletic team. Indeed comparing him to the current squad (oh thats right you don't have a fucking clue who plays in the celtic squad and just pulled that flippant judgment call out of your arse), i think only Starfelt would start ahead of him but He'd be ahead of Murray Welsh and Bitton particularly in the ange ball system (im not counting Jullien as he is on long term injury list). 3. Mooy would be MORE than just accepted at celtic, he'd be considered a major signing and one of the 2-3 stars of the side. You only need to look at the Postecoglue thread in the celtic chat site - the fans were generally hopeful that theyd buy mooy and ryan after the ange announcement. 4. You all seem to be shitting on Rhyan Grant saying he wouldn't be up to standard without actually comparing him to the current Celtic team - he'd start every match over Ralston who is our current starter, and suits ange ball (Fullbacks with huge engine to overlap wingers). Grant is now a 4 time A league TOTS player and won 3 championships. Ralston would be an average Rb in the A league. Admittedly its doubtful Celtic would sign Grant due to age however, but ability wise to say he's not good enough is rubbish. 5. Mckay had a clause in his contract with rangers that said if he played something like 10 or so games the price would jump up substantially, and this came in the season that their financial issues came to light and ultimately collapsed. Mckay has said in an interview that =this is the reason he wasn't played and was told so by Mccoist. In the 3 friendly matches McKay played for them (inc against liverpool) he was MOM in 2 of them, so don't give me this BS that he 'stunk the place up'.

Guys, from now on if you're going to making flippant negative judgment calls about any our of socceroos not being good enough for a certain team (eurosnobbery), please qualify it by comparing said player to the actual incumbents in his position in that side. Also the 2 young guys Shaw(?) as a fullback and Urhoghide in CB. My question - what Australian's do you think they are likely to pick up if any?? I honestly dont think Ange will even be looking our way for the moment. But I can think of a few who who would be decent pick ups. Limitations - they need to be young prospects with onsell worth with NT caps for UK visa rules. Or they need to be well established snr players that can walk into the first 11 - which would be mooy or ryan and so there is no one else really that fits this. 3 signings for celtic that I can see being decent and fitting Ange's style of play. -Atkinson in RB but he will need to get capped for the NT first which is pretty likely. He has decent onsell value. -Sainsbury in CB - I would say Degenek, but his passing is a bit suspect at times and might not fit Ange's style. Also he was dropped from Ange's yokohama. Maybe Curtis Good now he is getting games under his belt without the injuries. -Rukavytsya up front - but in writing this I've just seen he has signed for Perth. Doesn't really fit the limitations, but he would be a decent cheap signing that could have been a solid goal scoring backup striker. Celtic would be well aware of him having shown they scout the Israeli league. There's still talk of mooy going to us. Real real shame Ryan didn't come as he would be certain starter and fit anges system perfectly bringing his best football out. In terms of other players either Atkinson or Grant would both be an upgrade on Ralston. Smith or Behich on the left too would be upgrade on Taylor and suit the style better. Good or Sainsbury as ball playing center backs, mass loungo as a backup number 8. Other than those I cant see too many realistic options. Whilst I'm glad that you rate Australian players, I honestly don't think that any of the highlighted players are good enough to be playing for Celtic. PSV fans I talk to rate Behich and Sainsbury as two of the worst players that they've had in recent years [1 fan went as far to say that Behich is the worst player he's ever seen play for PSV], whilst I don't think that Good's body could handle the type of schedule that Celtic has without the constant breakdowns he had during his time at Newcastle. On the other players mentioned, I think Atkinson needs another year or two of regular football at Melb. City before he's ready to make the jump imo, while I also don't really rate Grant that highly. Admittedly, I don't see as much of him as some of the forum regulars, so maybe I'm missing something. I think he's got a big engine and a good work rate, but I don't think he has the technical skills required to have a successful European career. Smith's in a good spot at Seattle, so it'd be foolish for him to consider leaving, and Luongo has only played 43 games from a possible 103 games since signing for Sheffield Wednesday, which suggests he's either injury prone or out of favour: not good enough to earn a move again. Are you actually familiar with Celtics players? Again, the players i mention are better than the current incumbents. Whilst I do hope that we see more Australian players abroad in the future, there's a serious mentality issue with a lot of them, which more often than not sees them back in the AL within a season of heading overseas. To have a career abroad [in any profession] takes a lot of guts and sacrifices, and a lot of the Australian players seem happy enough to chill in the AL playing 30 or so games [tops] a year on a comfortable enough wage. 1. He played 1 season, left after the first couple of matches in the 2nd. So lets not misconstrue the facts to support your argument. 2. 10 matches in a season for a club the standing of PSV is a huge achievement for an Australian footballer, few of which have reached the same level in the last yrs. We all speak about Kruse at leverkusen in 2013 but he only played about the same number of games albeit admittedly leverkusen at that time is slight stepup from PSV of 2018/19 but only slight. PSV is a level or 2 above celtic so on that evidence we can conclude that the backup center back for PSV (he was one of the 2 backups for the CB's) would get plenty of games for the current cletic team. Indeed comparing him to the current squad (oh thats right you don't have a fucking clue who plays in the celtic squad and just pulled that flippant judgment call out of your arse), i think only Starfelt would start ahead of him but He'd be ahead of Murray Welsh and Bitton particularly in the ange ball system (im not counting Jullien as he is on long term injury list). 3. Mooy would be MORE than just accepted at celtic, he'd be considered a major signing and one of the 2-3 stars of the side. You only need to look at the Postecoglue thread in the celtic chat site - the fans were generally hopeful that theyd buy mooy and ryan after the ange announcement. 4. You all seem to be shitting on Rhyan Grant saying he wouldn't be up to standard without actually comparing him to the current Celtic team - he'd start every match over Ralston who is our current starter, and suits ange ball (Fullbacks with huge engine to overlap wingers).
