Stelios, Taxiarchis, Vangelis or Osterios sound nice too!
Given the only automatic entry into the ACL is through FFA Cup nowdays, any NPL/Second Div place holder team (from January) happen to outlay alot more, and happen to win it, that's straight into Asia. This opportunity never existed before. There may well be a case that it is currently more important to win the FFA Cup competition than the standard A League competition. South Melbourne, Melbourne Knights or say a Gold Coast Kings could bypass all the A League teams if they could somehow win through.

I know at least one state has a player points system but what are the Salary restrictions ? Are Mono's South Melbourne and other NPL clubs allowed to go for it and spend as much as they want?

I know at least one state has a player points system but what are the Salary restrictions ? Are Mono's South Melbourne and other NPL clubs allowed to go for it and spend as much as they want? I think that NPL Vic still operates under a Player Point system and restricted senior squad numbers. Not 100% sure on what exactly the payment restrictions are but I remember a couple of years ago there was a bit of a stink that Avondale was paying some of their players cash under the table, ultimately 3 or 4 K a week plus goal bonuses. Only 2 x Visa players are allowed per squad also which is really unfair during FFA cup games against 5 foreigners but hey, can't have the wogs getting uppity I guess?
