Seems a smart move by FA IMO.

If only your beloved mates the Lowys were still around to ‘save’ Australian football 🙁

I don't think it is a good move at all.
Merrick has familiarity with the Australian scenario, but he wasn't part of the overhaul of coach education and National Curriculum which was based on best European practices.
As a coach he didn't have Victory playing modern football like Ange and Muscat did. His tenure with Jets wasn't noteworthy for a modern approach either.
Merrick is also aged 69.

One thing Ernie has done which is good, is acknowledge the incredible achievement of qualifying for 5 World Cups in a row by Australia.
Only 9-11 teams have done it in world football.
However, there is a reason why. He hasn't acknowledged it though.

We can 't be having THAT here in Australia. We need a 'disrupter ' !
