Seemed touch and go for red, there was some cover in the middle. I would have leant to a red though. We need to start much better than the last 2 matches, been very lucky not to go behind in the first 20 minutes both times.

Cant say my arms have turned to custard .... yet ........ but I dont mind it and use it myself... I guess partially because of the kids and how our conversations go with them, maybe thats what the youngsters are calling them and it translates to us old bastards ?
I think a lot of people are more so temporary supporters than actually pretending mate... Everyone in the country wants them to do well, a vast majority will just turn off if they don't.

I hate that chant. I kept thinking we really need to have some proper chants. The Oi Oi Oi and the "Oh Lets go Matildas" was all we had. Quite boring and lame. The Viking clap came out a few times, which I don't mind, but we really need to develop something more unique and atmosphere building. 

The Brazil fans did it so well this tournament.

How can you develop a fan singing culture when they blast music literally until the whistle goes for kickoff, at stoppages, at half time and after goals and immediately after the game finishes.

I've been to 5 matildas matches so far and bee lucky not to have one within cooee of me. Probably jinxed myself and will be sitting near one tomorrow night.

The one that pisses me off the most is the "Let's go Matildas, let's go", repeated ad nausem. Is it just a Brisbane thing copied from the equally nauseating "Let's go Broncos, let's go" that I have heard in the past when watching Brisbane Broncos games in the NRL? It is absolutely infuriating. In Wednesday's game there was a woman in the row below me, who probably 15 times during the game started chanting that and a number of people around followed her and chanted along for about 12 repetitions.

Matilda is slang for a German war prostitute, so maybe that's better

I think that's a globally generic chant.
I've heard it at kids sports, and on televised American sports.

Its equal to <team name> *clap clap clap*, <team name> *clap clap clap*, <team name> *clap clap clap* in terms of blandness.

I think it might be a Netball thing mate. have heard it in Melbourne before at womens sport.
